Ford: Don’t Arrest Man In His Own Home, Whether His Name’s Gates, Johnson . . . or Finkelstein

Could Ford be a fan? On Morning Joe today, Harold Ford, Jr., the former-congressman-turned-professor, commenting on the Cambridge brouhaha, said:

“I think, look, the guy [Officer Crowley] did the right thing. My only question is once you determine there was no break-in, guy may be yakking off, I don’t care if he’s black or white, his name is Gates or Johnson . . . or Finkelstein. You don’t arrest a guy in his home.”

People get arrested in their own homes all the time. When the police are called on a domestic, for example, at least one of the parties is arrested in their own home simply to separate the parties and provide for cooling down.

Arresting a person for disorderly conduct is usually just to give a cool down period or defuse a situation (or sober up a drunk), and very often those situations do happen in people’s own homes.

Actually Gates was arrested outside of his home for disorderly conduct. So sick of this lazy ass reporting...

Is this a new rule? If someone is actually “in his house” the Police are supposed to shrug and walk away? Breathtaking...

Wasn’t in his home ... Outside on the sidewalk where a crowd had gathered.

An unruly person, according to a friend on the force, is best dealt with by a ride to the station instead of inflaming the crowd that was assembling. No harm no foul.

Why argue with and abuse the cops in the first place.

My only question is once you determine there was no break-in

This has become such a "He said-She said" situation, that I'm not sure what facts are definitely known at this point. I had the impression that Gates showed a ID which gave his name and his employer (Harvard). I'm not sure that the police officer was given solid proof that Gates resided at that location.

Bottomline: Do what the police tell you, or else risk being taken downtown. Even a Harvard professor ought to be smart enought to know that.

the Cambridge police may be waiting for all the libtards to make their statements....jumping up and down like hungry group marsupials at a banana truck roll over....and then release the full tape of the incident.

Ford: Don’t Arrest Man In His Own Home, Whether His Name’s Gates, Johnson . . . or Finkelstein

What?! So, someone could, if they wanted, beat up a policeman in their own home and have a “get out of jail free” card... LOL...

That's the problem. He IS a Harvard professor.

He wasn't IN HIS OWN HOME.

He followed the cops out onto the street when they were trying to leave and continued to mouth off....and this was after he had told the cop he was going to screw the cops mama on the front porch.

Gates is lucky the cop had the restraint not to kick the bigoted bastard's ass.

The only thing worth comment in this entire incident is that Gates is a hypersensitive, race baiting phony who’s as easily set off as a rat trap.

And, Obama made a fool of himself.

From the photo I've seen, he was on his porch when handcuffed.
