NYC Mayor Says 'His Cars Should Set Example'.
The city's idling limit is three minutes. Bloomberg recently shortened it to one minute around schools.
The limit does not legally apply to Bloomberg's SUVs, which are classified as emergency vehicles.
In 2007, he announced that by 2030, he wants to reduce the city's carbon count by 30 percent.

what is this, national put-your-stupid-liberal-foot-in-your-stupid-mouth-stupidly week?
Start/Stop features are available via mild hybrids, and Mazda has a stop/start via their Direct Injection for 8% fuel reduction.

“The city’s idling limit is three minutes. Bloomberg recently shortened it to one minute around schools.”
I just don’t know any more... I just am so out of touch that I can’t understand the context of what is going on around me. I just don’t know what that even means.
Whatever, and 0 blowing up to $1m and undetermined carbon counts on a NYC date night is okay.
I don’t get this. It sucks to sit there 15 or 20 minutes in a car on waiting on someone to come out. Heater won’t work, AC won’t work, run down your battery.
Screw these but-in busy bodies. And the system counts on rats (aka “soccer moms”) calling 911 when they see your car idling too long. Everytime these laws get passed, they immediately do their duty and start ratting out everyone they see, just like good litte Nazis.
In related news, NYC is on track for the its 2nd coolest July in history. If only Mayor Bloomberg hadn’t idled that darn SUV, spewing carbon emmissions and warming his little part of the globe, we’d probably have the coolest July ever.
