I didn’t know that. I don’t read her articles so I can’tsay if I agree with her or not.

But being Mormon isn’t a crime. So they are wrong on this one aspect. Republicans are personally wrong on issues all the time. They may be right on a large majority of them that we can agree with. I won’t defend them for being Mormon, but as far as family values and working hard and generally not wanting government to intrude into all aspects of your life, I find common ground with them on that.

I was against Mitt because he was and is a RINO. Don’t trust the guy. IN this case that already decided it.

The problem is that they are isolating a tiny group of self selecting voters of a single church that is closely purified, let's call them "very dedicated" members of their own religion, almost pure white and then comparing it to a loose term of a huge number of people of all kinds and versions and diversities and even differing churches and calling them evangelical.

White evangelicals for instance are a huge, widely diverse group of people that belong to a variety of different churches but look at how they vote.

I don't think that they would have been as supportive.

I know the lady in the article and I will form opinions based on that but I will never question her faith. I have attended Baptist services and I have attended LDS services and never once did I feel that I was anywhere but in the House of the Lord.

Since mormons are less than 2% of the US population, and not all of them are voting age, I fail to see why the fact that that "More Mormons (60 percent) identify themselves as conservatives than any other religious group; they also lead every other group in GOP party identification (at 65 percent)--much higher than the general population in both categories" is something to get excited about. Of that 1.75, they are concentrated in a small area:

    The Mormon population in the U.S. is heavily concentrated in the West (76%). In fact, roughly one-third of all American Mormons (35%) live in Utah, the state founded by its early             leaders. An additional 13% live in California while 7% reside in Idaho, 5% in Nevada and 4% each in Oregon and Arizona. Only about one-in-ten Mormons (12%) live in the South             (including 4% who reside in Texas), 7% live in the Midwest and just 4% reside in the Northeast.

 

 There weren't enough of them voting in lock step to give Romney the nomination in 2008, and I "betcha" the numbers of conservatives that will support Sarah Palin in 2012 will make Mitt's numbers pale in comparison.

Proble is, evangelicals who should be voicing unity with the LDS on the gay marriage issue and all seem not to care — yet what message does that send to their members who will gain respect for Mormons for standing their ground?

I would say the number one bashed group in America are the evangelicals or the protestants in general. The Southern baptist portion alone of the Baptist versions are the second largest church in America, second only to the Catholic church, yet they are constantly bashed and never respected.

How often do you see the movie hero go talk to his Southern Baptist minister or set foot in any kind of a Baptist church, how often if ever, has a non collar wearing protestant minister played a positive role in a horror film? Catholics get bashed but they also get all the positive roles as well.

I don't believe Romney believes in socialism (the government ownership of business.) He believes in capitalism.
And I don't believe he went to MA wanting to push universal health care. I believe MA wanted it. He just tried to do it using capitalistic principles, and tried to make it economical.
What MA got was a system like Romney was designing, modified with about 9 over rides on his vetoes.
Instead of criticizing Romney so much, we should just look at MA and let that be our test case to prove what we do or do not want for the rest of the country.

If we can't study and discuss your candidates record of his one term in elective office as Governor of Massachusetts, can we at least study and discuss your candidates exact same type politics that he held before he became governor of Massachusetts at age 55?

You can discuss anything you want. I just may not choose to be a part of it.
I am primarily interested in Health Care right now. That is the issue on the front burner. I think the Demos are not going to give up. I think they will modify what they are proposing until they get something passed
So I think it is a time to be very clear about what is in the MA system and what is not and what is making it be so expensive. To what extent does their system stay in the private sector? Can they choose their own physician? Is there rationing.
I would like objective answers, in order to be armed against the demos, not just excessive diatribes against Romney.
