Google’s translation is not half bad, albeit cumbersome to use. Spanish also isn’t too hard to learn.

To the topic at hand, I’m not sure about FARC...they’ve been losing power for quite some time since President Uribe in Colombia started cracking down hard. Still worth looking into I suppose. But, if I were to guess where a lot of the behind the scenes trouble comes from, it isn’t Venezuela or Honduras—but our good old friend Cuba.

A lot of it though doesn’t come down to Glorious Communist Revolution ideology, but just cold hard cash. Drug cartels have much influence in these countries, and organized crime is an international game. Heroin producing syndicates in Southeast Asia use the South American cartels to push their product in the US, and likewise the South American cartels sell cocaine abroad through organized crime overseas. They use FARC and other militant groups to keep the government preoccupied by other problems.

Actually we had a surprising growth of FARC, ironically also Mexican cartels in Honduras just before and after signing ALBA. They didn´t shrink they networked. Our kidnappings for ransom have tripled here. Drug trafficking from Venezuela is bad enough we were named a narco state...embarrassing to say the least..then Zelaya is knocked out of power and today FARC condemns the coup of Zelaya..more than enough to raise eyebrows..last year we siezed a huge weapons cashe that belonged to FARC and 480 thousand dollars belonging to them as well. There was an entire newspaper about six months ago dedicated to the growth of FARC and at the time they didn´t make the connection of ALBA and FARC..but I am betting something is there..they are shrewd and marxist and so is ALBA as well as ironically all of these countries removing DEA agents from their areas, Venezuela refuses to call them terrorists and Ecuador threw a fit when Columbia attacked a rebel camp.
I am betting we don´t know half of it.
