Wash. Gay Partnership Foes Turn in Signatures

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Sponsors of a campaign to overturn Washington state's domestic partnership law turned in their petition signatures Saturday and said they believe they have enough to force a public vote.

The expanded "everything but marriage" domestic partnership law was scheduled to take effect Sunday, but is now delayed until the signatures can be counted, a process that could take up to a month.

To qualify for the November ballot, supporters of Referendum 71 must have 120,577 voter signatures. Supporters say they have about 138,000 signatures.

"I feel our signatures are pretty clean," said campaign spokesman Gary Randall.

If they have enough signatures, the law will be delayed until the outcome of the referendum. If they fall short, the domestic partnership expansion will immediately take effect.

The signatures were turned in a day after opponents of the new law announced a final push to force a public vote, calling their effort "too close to call" and asking people to show up on Saturday at the Capitol to turn in their signatures to the secretary of state's office.

In reopening this dispute; isn't there a risk of losing ground (i.e. winding up with same-sex “marriage”)?

The First Amendment states that one has the right to petition the government, but it does not guarantee that the people who do petition anonymity. Furthermore, the First Amendment guarantees the right of “Who Signed it? the right to publish.

You don't stop this crap by ignoring it. Some time, some where the sheep have to stand up to the wolves and become sheepdogs.

The United States was originally populated by 'alpha personalities'. I know that there are some of us left who still relish our original intent and are not willing to capitulate to these idiots.

WA petition signers should be aware that if the petition asks for you street address and you have a PO box where you receive mail, and the PO Box is on your voter registration, the petition examiners will throw out your signature, unless you include both.

They don’t have enough signatures, especially in the state of Washington. They’re going to thow out at least 20,000, maybe even as high as 25 or 30,000.

Just watch.

You don't stop this crap by ignoring it.

You're exactly right. The liberal fascists will continue to incrementally cram this stuff down the throats of unwitting, unaware citizens until they wake up one morning and find out that mandatory sodomy is the law of the land. And by "mandatory", I don't mean that average folks will be force to perform homosexual acts, but that the average person will be forced by law to whole-heartedly, by their actions, approve and promote this lifestyle as NORMAL in employment, adoption, business, education, religion, etc. As it's being done in Massachusetts, the original model for homo-fascism, so it will be in any state that refuses to say "NO" to the homo-activists.

Matthew 5:11 "Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake."(NKJV)

John 15:20 "Remember the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also."(NKJV)

I’d be happy to sign it if I lived in WA. And I’d also be happy to “discuss” my signing it with anyone who had a problem with it.

Up the road I can imagine young boys being pressured to submit. These people were outcasts for a reason and now people get to see. There will be a lot of suffering until people do something.

I was hoping to sign it and get my name published but couldn’t find a petition yesterday.

If you live in or visit WA, make sure to support any businesses owned by people on the lists. The left will just make it easier for us to support our own people.

The Klan used to do (does?) something similar when they want to intimidate people from going to minority or immigrant businesses.

I didn’t even know about it until I read a story where the opponents threatened intimidation against the signers. I made a concerted effort to seek out a petition that I could sign.

I have yet to hear from the homo patrol...

Shepherds abound and are starting to see the need to stand up and be counted.
If everyone who thinks this crud going on in our nation and keeps it secret went on the record, things would begin to change.
Saul Alinksky talks about the two types of power. True power you have and what people THINK you have.
I prefer the first one.

So let them publish the names. Who's going to read 138,000 of them.
Now, if they start publishing addresses of the people who signed, that would be akin to publishing the addresses of abortion doctors.
