Suspicious package at airport; some evacuated

Two concourses reportedly were evacuated Thursday afternoon after a suspicious package was discovered at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport.

Passengers have told The Observer that the concourses were reopened after about a half-hour, but there also are reports of some flight cancellations and delays.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say they were called to the airport shortly after 2 p.m. Office Jean Wassenaar, a spokeswoman for CMPD, said the bomb squad was called to deal with a "suspicious device."
