...under a magnolia tree with professor Henry Louis Gates, police sergeant James Crowley and Vice-President Joe Biden ...

Whoa took an out of country article to NOT "puff up" the "professor" with words like, "esteemed, distinguished, exulted, respected" etc.

At a press conference immediately after yesterday's beer diplomacy, Crowley described the White House discussion as "gentlemanly" and devoid of tension. Gates and he had "agreed to disagree" and would meet again in private. [No doubt with attornies present!]

Asked what the President had brought to the discussion, Crowley said "he provided the beer"

Sounds about right for this complete waste of Crowley's time spent only to provide Obama with a photo op. I have a feeling we're not going to hear much more about this, even though lawyers are still involved for both parties.

It was a condescending stunt designed to gin up some fake moral equivalence between Gates and the cop. The cop was in the right and did his job and Gates is a racist rabble rouser

Exactly but the white guilt ridden wuss liberals will lap it up because they are too cowardly to face the truth about black racists

What’s going on, imho, is he’s just not that smart, nor is he some kind of master strategist. He’s a prop with a commanding voice. And he was just reacting at the mental level of the race acitivist he’s always been.

“in an unusual lapse of judgment”

Who are they trying to fool?

“And it was Obama, in an unusual lapse of judgment . . . “

Snort! Should read: With his usual lapse of judgment . . .

Prolly .... the simplest explanation is often correct.

And he is that 'racially charged' so it's a natural response to attack the white guy.

I suspect we dodged a bullet with Kerry and Gore, but we've taken an 8 inch howitzer with this guy.... pray for our nation.

Merriam Websters Online shows it as an adverb from the root stupid:

Henry Gates is institutionalized racism guaranteed by Harvard. Harvard is responsible for his a$$ and this is what Harvard produces; institutionalized racism, leftists and marxists. Harvard ? a bastion of american ivy education?
oh yes, it is! along with Gates, Ogletree and his co-horts,too, including Machete Machelle and Bam

These are the fruits of aff action and guess what folks,
it’s all a personal agenda of these people who were the recipients and NONE of them are working for the good of the black community at heart, it’s all about them personally or otherwise and how much they can grift off the system.
They learned well didn’t they? throw the unknowing black or disenfranchised communities a few nice words and promises all couched within fabian socialism and marxism ..........

i’m beside meself

I know you like to keep track of views on threads. I'm puzzled why that is important though. I go to ‘latest articles’ and scroll down the page and ‘open’ quite a few but they don't interest me and I go on to others. But, I gave each of them a ‘view’, lol.

"Sergeant Crowley and I, through an accident of time and place, have been cast together, inextricably, as characters -- as metaphors, really -- in a thousand narratives about race over which he and I have absolutely no control," Gates said.

"Narratives about race are as old as the founding of this great republic itself, but these new ones have unfolded precisely when Americans signalled to the world our country's great progress by overcoming centuries of habit and fear, and electing an African-American as president."

Long winded way of saying he and others like him intend to keep the race issue alive.

He knows how his bread has been buttered.
