A Border Patrol agent who was slain.... along the Mexican border was remembered Friday as a gregarious family man who dreamed that his 2-year-old son would follow in his footsteps.
About 4,000 people packed a memorial service for Robert Rosas, 30, who was found dead with bullet wounds to his head and body on the night of July 23 in Campo, about 60 miles east of San Diego.
Like many people raised in California's Imperial Valley, Rosas found a career in law enforcement....
A large screen flashed photos of Rosas with his family and in uniform as a high school football player, adult softball player and Border Patrol agent.
Border Patrol Chief David Aguilar drew applause when he vowed to bring the "cowards and the scourge of humanity to justice."
Mexican authorities have detained five men .... Ernesto Parra Valenzuela, 36, had a 9 mm pistol when he was captured walking alone near the shooting....... Parra admitted he was a migrant smuggler when local police found him about five hours after the execution, but he denied any involvement with Rosas' death.
There are still speckles of blood on rocks lining a small crevice under a border fence made of corrugated metal. Lara said the blood apparently came from Rosas' killer, returning to Mexico.
Mexican authorities later detained four alleged migrant smugglers, including two who are suspected of kidnapping and raping migrants. One allegedly identified Parra as the Border Patrol agent's killer.
It comes at a time of increasing concern among U.S. authorities that a crackdown on drug cartels by Mexican President Felipe Calderon will spill across the border.
"Robert is now in a better place, a much cooler place," said Border Patrol Agent Edgar Rogel, a close friend.

You need to read the entire article. At least this sad story finally got some 'press'. I find it amazing that the so called 'advocates' of all things Hispanic like La Raza are NEVER outraged over these Mexican AMERICAN border agents who die or get railroaded into jail over political correctness. Instead they want all these criminal aliens left alone!
I wonder how often men like Ramos and Compean realize that after the hell they went through, they got the lesser of the two and only punishments these agents face. This is a war. Kill or be killed. We're asking the impossible of these men. They're sitting ducks.
The funeral was in EL CENTRO, Calif.
"Senior law enforcement officials took turns speaking next to an American flag-draped coffin."
Rest in peace Robert Rosas. You've done your job and you've done it well.
Thank you for your service, Officer Rosas.
Also just out by NAFBPO.
Most Arizona Voters Put Immigration Over Health Care as More Important Reform Goal
Monday, July 27, 2009
Fifty-one percent (51%) of Arizona voters say it is more important for
Congress to pass immigration reform than health care reform. A new
Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state shows that 45% hold the
opposite view and think health care reform is more important.
By a 65% to 20% margin, Arizona voters believe enforcing the borders is
more important than legalizing the status of those already living here.
Half of the states voters (50%) think it is possible to put an end to
illegal immigration, while 34% do not. Those results are slightly more
optimistic than those found on the national level.
Voters in the Grand Canyon State still highly regard Maricopa Country
Sheriff Joseph Arpaio, known for his tough immigration enforcement.
Fifty-seven percent (57%) say the sheriffs policies have helped the
states image, showing little change from May. Twenty-seven percent (27%)
say the sheriffs policies hurt the states image.
Seventy percent (70%) of GOP voters who say his policies helped the state
and 52% of Democrats who disagree. Most unaffiliated voters (68%) say
Arpaios policies were good for the states image. [snip]
(Arpaio has more political sense than the entire GOP leadership....70% Gop, and 68% unaffiliated voters agree with him. And we have no anti- illegal immigration candidates supported by the GOP ‘wise ones’. :<)
“Rest in peace Robert Rosas. You’ve done your job and you’ve done it well.”
Indeed. The retired agents who send me these articles are heartbroken and feel betrayed. Mostly they feel like no one cares...that their sacrifices are unimportant to Americans.
That’s the worst of it. Micheal Jackson threads are still getting more attention.
I'm hearing the Mexican authorities are parading this around, and suggesting this was the suspect and officers weapon...
If this is what they are suggesting, this does not appear to be an HK p2000. Looks like a Beretta.
This moron appears to have the IQ of a rock.
I wish that I knew Clintonista Lanny Breuer was there, would have asked what the hell he was doing around real heroes.
