La Guardia Evacuated
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Authorities evacuated the main terminal at La Guardia airport Saturday morning.
The central terminal was evacuated after a man claimed to have an explosive device in his satchel.
The Port Authority tells 1010WINS the man is in custody - and that the Bomb Squad and Port Authority Police are investigating the man’s bag.
Flights into the airport were delayed or diverted Saturday morning. Check with your carrier if you are traveling from La Guardia.

LaGuardia Airport’s central terminal was evacuated Saturday morning because of a bomb square.
A police source said the scare started when passengers pointed out an apparently drunk man to cops in the terminal. When officers approached him, he said he had a bomb in his bag, a source said. There was a homemade device inside rigged up to look like a bomb, but it appears to be a fake.
While the NYPD Bomb Squad inspected the device, the terminal was evacuated.
8:30 a.m. Airport still closed.

Authorities identified the man as Scott McGann, 32, of New York. He faces charges including making terroristic threats and placing a false bomb in a transportation facility. He had a ticket on a United Airlines flight that was headed to Chicago, with connecting flights that would have ultimately taken him to Oakland.
