Ever imagined waking up to Dolly Parton fixing your breakfast?

One Parton fan will get the chance to attend a barbecue at Parton's home, tour Parton's private residence, spend the night in Parton's guest cottage, and wake up to a meal prepared and served by Parton herself.

The evening at Parton's digs will be one of the items up for auction at the Dr. Robert F. Thomas Foundation's annual Evening of Elegance fundraiser, which will be held 6 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Mills Auditorium in Gatlinburg. The event will include both a silent and live auction, with the Parton package as the highlight of the live auction.

The Dr. Robert F. Thomas Foundation was founded in 1983 to expand the quality of health care in Sevier County. Part of the foundation's current goal is funding the construction of the new Mount LeConte Medical Center, scheduled to open in 2010. The foundation was named in honor of the longtime Sevier County doctor who delivered Parton and many other children born in Sevier County during his lifetime.

Dolly has done a lot for Sevier County.I first went there in 1954 and hardly recognize those older days.My wife and I will be in Gatlinburg on the 15th and plan on being at the auction as it is certainly for a good cause. My wife’s grandparents had a country store in Sevier County and people would gather there on Saturday nights in the summer to visit and gossip and sing.Dolly as a kid would sing there occasionally and even then she was special.Who knows maybe I will win the auction and meet one of my true heroines!!!

“she is a wonderful person...”

I have a cousin who is a member of the Grand Ol Opry, and my grandfather has performed there as well. I have heard a lot of stories, about a lot of performers and their bad behavior. There are a few who stand head and shoulders above the rest, not because of their talent, but because they are truly good human beings. Dolly is always among them. From what I gathered, if we knew just how generous this lady was, we would all be pretty amazed. She has a big heart.-—JM

Good on you! I hail from neighboring Cocke County and a Sunday afternoon drive back in the day was often over to Gatlinburg when Rebel Corner was the prime destination downtown. But, Daddy never wanted to go on the main road there or back. We “explored” a lot.

Many years ago I took my sister to see Dolly on her last tour with Porter. Couldn’t believe how tiny she was and how beautiful she was. Even her best pictures didn’t do her justice.

She’s definitely not just a dumb blond with big boobs. She’s smart, good business sense and has a heart of gold.

Forgot about that one. Just went back and watched it. The tears are still flowing down my cheeks

Glad to help. I was watching live that night, like this was before VCR and TiVo. You had better watch live or miss it.
