N.Korea 'helping Myanmar build nuclear plant': report

Sat Aug 1, 11:03 am ET

SYDNEY (AFP) – North Korea is helping Myanmar build a secret nuclear reactor and plutonium extraction plant to build an atomic bomb within five years, a report said on Saturday, citing the evidence of defectors.

The nuclear complex is hidden inside a mountain at Naung Laing, in Myanmar's north, and runs parallel to a civil reactor being built at another site by Russia, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

The revelations come just weeks after US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton voiced concerns that Pyongyang was transferring weapons and nuclear technology to fellow pariah state Myanmar.

First, Syria and now Myanmar. Is there another place NK is doing this work? I have to wonder.

Preparation Under way for N. Korean Technicians to Evacuate from Iran

It has been revealed on June 20 that N. Korea’s missile and nuke technicians, currently staying in Iran, started preparation to evacuate from Iran, according to a credible source on Mid-East. It is not certain that they will actually leave, but they are definitely preparing for the departure when Iranian (political) situation becomes ‘fluid.’

N. Korean technicians are at multiple sites in Iran, cooperating with Iran the development of missiles and other projects.

In addition to securing personal belongings, the preparation includes equipments and documents which should be kept in secret, such as computers. This is to prevent the evidence of the close collaboration on missile and nukes from being discovered.

The reformist group in Iran are mounting protests over the fraud in presidential election, and (political) tension is rising.

Myanmar is another problem child like North Korea. The 2004 tsunami that devastated coastal Thailand supposedly did just as much or more damage in Myanmar but their oppressive government kept it quiet. Too bad there aren't hardly any real reporters anymore or people would have read that story in the MSM. One of the few places it was reported was here at FR.

Is Myanmar going to pay them in opium? I’d like to know what NK charges for a turnkey nuclear weapons program. My neighbor has a dog that barks a lot.

For a 2hr enjoyable outline of Burma (or as communists call it Myanmar) I can recommend Rambo 4, as plugged on Rush. Pretty genuinely anti-commiethug movie.

Maybe we can get the North Koreans to build a secret Nuke plant in the USA, since the bunny huggers and Liberals wont let us have any new ones.

I can recall that, several years ago, the Burmese generals declared that the Northern provinces of Thailand as well as Kanchanaburi “rightly” belonged to Burma. Add that to the claim by Laos of Isan, Cambodia of Isan’s south and the Islamists of several Southern provinces and the future looks interesting, to say the least.

Burma has uranium mines and can trade uranium for technical assistance. The work on the reactor and their desire for nuclear weapons have been known about for years. These facts are generally denied by the State Department. Once they admit that Burma is trying to build a nuke they will be expected to do something about it. Endless talk and strongly worded memos won't have much influence on thugs like Than Shwe. It is time for REGIME CHANGE. Aung San Suu Kyi should be placed in the leadership role that she earned in the last democratic election. Free Burma Now!

Time to saddle up the elephants.

From reading this thread, I was only able to deduce (and may the souls of good folks in Minnesota forgive me):

It seems to me,
that this is meant
to wipe out Thais
and dissidents --

Burma-Nukes.

So what's to do
for shutting down
the weapons program,
Kim Il-Clown,
and Burma-Nukes? (Lord knows we can't trust the Empty Suit on this one.)

This wouldn’t be such a big problem if there *were* no North Korea.

U.S. missile defence test hailed a success as North Korea tensions rise
