DURBIN: "I think members should be out, speaking with the public, meeting with people who are the health care professionals and talking about the current situation. I’ve done it and I’ll continue to do it. But you know, I hope my colleagues won’t fall for a sucker-punch like this.
"These health insurance companies and people like them are trying to load these town halls for visual impact on television. They want to show thousands of people screaming ‘socialism’ and try to overcome the public sentiment which now favors health care reform. That’s almost like flooding the switchboards on Capitol Hill. It doesn’t prove much other than the switchboards have limited capacity. So, we need to have a much more balanced approach that really allows members of Congress to hear both sides of the story, rather than being sucker-punched or side-tracked by these types of tactics."
I hope I get my check soon! I’ve spent my share of money traveling to Tea Parties, making phone calls, etc.
The real difference, is that liberals plant operatives, conservatives have lives, jobs, family, when they protest it is from the heart........not the bleeding heart but the soul.

Yes, that accusation says more about their tactics than ours. But now we know their talking points — evil insurance companies sending us all to these meetings — to deflect them.
Why tea parties don’t work.
Tea Parties are one way to get to know each other and get used to activism. It’s a start. They’re not a means to an end, but they have broken the ice for many of us and led to further involvement. Watch how the reps coming home for recess have been challenged. Look for “Tim Bishop” on YouTube. The movement is growing.
Besides, I prefer FreeRepublic to that board any day.

Congressman Sam Farr’s (CA) town hall meeting schedule
Congressman Farr sent me a detailed list of all of his town hall meetings for August and September. He sent me an email full of false “facts” about the Obamacare Reform bill, including the lie that there are 47 million uninsured Americans. He also stated “The current system of health care in America is seriously broken and needs fixing. It is immoral to stand by and do nothing.”
Call/write your congressman ASAP to find out their schedule and post here. Also email all of their constituents that you know. These politicians’ lies must be confronted before things get much worse.
