MOSCOW – A top Russian general says two nuclear-powered Russian attack submarines that have been spotted off the U.S. East Coast are part of regular patrols.

Anatoly Nogovitsyn, the deputy chief of staff of Russia's armed forces, says the patrols are not newsworthy.

" Gee Whizz, and here I thought the rest of the world would just sit by and watch as we go through this massive upheaval within our government and economy. "

Maybe the Russians are trying to get a ringside seat to watch the show in their 2 subs off the east coast of the USA.... SARCASM

They were nostalgic for the days of Communism, so they wanted to see the US to remember what it was like.

I never saw that movie, but I suspect it was some Hollywood leftist’s attempt at minimizing and mocking the Russian threat.

Don’t be silly.

We have patrolled the waters off the USSR, er, Russia since the Cold War, and we probably didn’t stop just ‘cause the Sov, er, Russkis had a temporary hiccup. We’re probably still patrolling over there, why shouldn’t they reciprocate?
Besides, outside the 13 mile limit (or is it the economic exclusion zone?), the seas are free to all, right?

As for invasions, exactly how would you move an armed force into the US, and how would you support it?

If it happens, our conquerors will be lawyers acting through our government on the behalf of the UN, backed up by our own police and “Peacekeepers” we pay to bring over...

Venezuela Still Aids Colombia Rebels, New Material Shows

The materials point to detailed collaborations between the guerrillas and high-ranking military and intelligence officials in Mr. Chávez’s government as recently as several weeks ago, countering the president’s frequent statements that his administration does not assist the rebels. “We do not protect them,” he said in late July.

The new evidence — drawn from computer material captured from the rebels, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC — comes at a low point for ties between Venezuela and Colombia. ..."

RUSSIA WILL “LAUNCH” A MOCK NUCLEAR ATTACK AGAINST THE U.S. AND BRITAIN DURING MILITARY EXERCISES OVER THE NEXT WEEK.

MOSCOW’S NEZAVISIMAYA GAZETA REPORTS THAT RUSSIA’S STRATEGIC BOMBERS AND NUCLEAR SUBMARINES “WILL DELIVER HYPOTHETICAL NUCLEAR STRIKES ON THE U.S. AND BRITAIN, WHILE LOCATING AND DESTROYING AIRCRAFT-CARRIER GROUPS OF THE U.S. NAVY.”

Putin is trying to push the US into recognising Georgia and nearby countries as being within Russia’s “sphere of influence”. Restraint is probably the best course of action. If Putin miscalculates (like Krushchev), he’ll go down ...unless the US rolls over.

Fine let them sail there. Its not like we don’t have about a dozen of our own SSN Attack Subs stationed off the East Coast like the USS Virginia (SSN-774). And they are Sub hunters so let the Ruskies play.
