A caricature of Obama as Heath Ledger's garish, pasty-faced Joker from "The Dark Knight" is appearing on the Facebook pages of many an Obama critic these days. And, as is depressingly common, there are Democrats who cry "racist!"
The Washington Post devoted several hundred words on the topic: "[The] poster is ultimately a racially charged image. By using the 'urban' makeup of the Heath Ledger Joker, instead of the urbane makeup of the Jack Nicholson character, the poster connects Obama to something many of his detractors fear but can't openly discuss. He is black and he is identified with the inner city, a source of political instability in the 1960s and '70s, and a lingering bogeyman in political consciousness despite falling crime rates."
Say what?!
The mental contortions needed to make this link are flabbergasting. The point of the Joker cartoon is as obvious as can be: The president of the United States -- or his policies so far stated -- is a comic-book villain, stealing your money. You may not agree with that -- but to suggest that caricature is out of bounds undermines the ideals of free speech and political expression.
No, Obama's election did not make our nation colorblind. But Obama's defenders are doing their president and themselves a great wrong. For when real racial injustices surface, the country -- so numb to false outrage from Harvard professors and propaganda posters -- will shrug it off. "Racist" is diluted to just another insult, robbed of all its shame. The Joker, unfortunately, will be on them.

A tip 'o the derby, sir. You guys put up with a lot of that despicable "Uncle Tom" crap handed out, ironically, by the very people who nurse at the financial teat of the guilt-ridden white liberals.
Excellent article. thanks for posting!
The more he and his supporters keep playing the race card, as they do for virtually any and all opposition to obama and his plans, the more people are going to grow tired of hearing it and the less the charge of "racist!" will mean.
They've done the same thing by hysterically calling weather "global warming" and a hot summer day a crisis. Works the first hundred times or so, but sooner or later people see through it and start laughing at the idea.
Great point, DGHoodini.
How about that fake Chicago ‘hood accent Dear Leader dons while he’s making a point to his adoring fans. He chooses the occasions to purposely use it. Dear Leader is racist.
“Whats funnier is that the Dear Comrade isnt all that black.”
Carmel colored Communist!
To me, he thinks he’s like the “supreme Leader, and he has his Union Mobster, ACORN, MoveOn.con...Basiji goons, to keep the “rioters” beat down.
The racist is annoyed because he secretly suspects that the races are equal. The anti-racist is annoyed because he secretly suspects that they are not.
Obama's problem with his Chicago constituents was always, "Is he Black enough?"
No Barf alert? Anything from WaPo should have a puke bag alert. Score them 1 to 5 bags. I give this one 3 bags, a 3 barf bag article. Meaning it would take 3 barf bags to hold all the puke this article generates. Any Speech by Bozo is always a 5 bagger, so 3 is pretty high.
It’s from the NY Post and takes a poke at the Compost.
Thanks...I wish everyone had taken the time to read the whole article as you did.
This is why, .comment not critque.
