Why So Serious? Obama/Joker Poster Draws 'Outrage'
GOPUSA ^ | Aughst 10, 2009 | Bobby Eberle

If there's one thing about liberals, it's that they're predictably predictable. In their eyes, it is more than acceptable to mock Sarah Palin and her family, using descriptions that range from rude to crude. When President Bush was in office, he was the focus of daily ridicule from left-wing journalists and bloggers.

However, no one better make fun of Barack Obama or the thought police will express "outrage" and brand you a racist. That's exactly what is happening now as a poster of Obama in "Joker" makeup is popping up on walls and city streets. My question to the lefties: Why so serious?

As (Fox News.com) is reporting, the poster of Obama as the Joker with the word "socialism" under it has drawn outrage from the likes of Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson. Hutchison called the poster "politically mean-spirited and dangerous."

Ok, I'm always a little unsure of what to think of the word "mean-spirited," especially when used by some far left spokesman. Photoshopping Sarah Palin's head onto a bikini body in order to portray her as some kind of bimbo would be mean-spirited, right? Yet, I didn't hear a peep out of the media. It seems that "mean-spirited" only applies to actions against liberals, and not actions by liberals.

The next word used by Hutchinson -- "dangerous" -- is by far the more interesting. How could a poster of Obama as the Joker be dangerous? It can't. But whenever the left uses such a phrase, watch out. It really means that somehow, the First Amendment rights of whomever is making the protest need to be limited or monitored. It's exactly the same type of tactic as the White House asking citizens to report on other citizens for "fishy" information on health care.

As (Newsbuster.org) shows, the poster has recently appeared in Los Angeles and Atlanta. (ABC News)notes that the poster is quickly making its way across the Internet, "rising to the top of Google's 'Today's Hot Trends' list."

If anything, the poster quickly sums up what so many Americans are thinking. First... that Obama has come in and made no bones about the fact that he wants to transform America into a big-spending, big-taxing, freedom-restricting, socialist nation. Second... that the joke's on us. So many Americans fell for the rhetoric, and now we are all paying the price.

But it's hard for the media to accept that there is criticism of Obama. Just look at this CNN report as people are "shocked" by the Obama-Joker poster:

Liberals certainly have a hard time when the shoe is on the other foot. They can make fun of Palin or McCain or Bush or Gingrich or Rush or whomever, but they cry foul when one of their own is the target. It's racist... it's mean-spirited... it's dangerous. Grow up! Obama's actions and policies are dangerous. A poster is just a poster.

Obama’s personal minister of propaganda, Shepard Fairey, did far worse images of President Bush and yet Obama cheerfully wrote him a letter of support during the campaign.

"I am in love with the creator of that poster."

It is scathingly brilliant, imo. As I have been pointing to out various people within my sphere, this image puts a very ugly, yet at the same time familiar face on the word that no one wants spoken aloud. No wonder the leftists are incensed.

High art, beyond a doubt.

You forget Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld. In 15 years at the top (which is what we are likely to have after Obama’s radical army invalidates the electoral process), the things said about Obama couldn’t come close to the kind of nasty, vicious and often obscene attacks those men came under.

Of course it was okay to bash Bush because that was cool for the libs to do! Dave Letterman bashed Bush every night and it was cool. Now when we joke and laugh at their “chosen one” they flip out.

Are any of the late night guys picking on O? I’m never up that late.

This is what happens to all fascist/marxist regimes. They believe their own rhetoric. They believe everyone is on their side. In other countries they have been able to overcome the resistance by repression. That won’t work here. Despite the “living constitution” leftists have crammed down our throats, despite their twisting of the words of the written constitution to mean the opposite of what they do mean, the American people still have an unwritten constitution. The people will simply not accept the power grabs this adminstration is thrusting up them. They know, in their hearts and minds, it is against everything American is. Some are even starting to call it what it is: evil.

So true. Hypocrisy at its finest. If you pick on Obama you’re unamerican or racist.
