New poll from Quinnipiac University (August 5 9, 1,301 RV, MoE +/- 2.7 %) shows President Obama's approval rating slipping to 56%, a five point decline from last month and down from his high of 68% in June.
As you might expect, Republican and Democratic attitudes about Obama are already fixed, so Obama's job rating decline in New Jersey this month is driven entirely by defections among Independent voters.
As you can see from the graphic below, Obama has lost a net of 19 points in his job rating with Independents in the last month, and is upside down with this group of voters for the first time:

I knew this would happen, and it’s why I preferred Obama to Hillary if it had to come to that.
The policies Obama is following have been brewing in the halls of academia since the late sixties. In some ways I am relieved that the country is having a chance to see how unworkable the approach is. It is something we need to go through to get it out of our collective system so that we can move on to more workable and proven approaches to running our country.

The American public was ready for a Black president, but not for a forced march to marxism.
Neuter them in 2010, send them packing in 2012.

“Eagleburger had it right and Americans who arent’ political junkies see that Obama is a charlatan. He’s the biggest in history, as far as I can tell.
He’s likely not eligible to be president and yet there he sits in the White House making executive decisions and flying all over the world on our dime. “

yeh!
And he is all that folks call him, and more.
yet the real enemy is the “politicians” in gubmint at all levels, and, more importantly, those who put them there.
Obama caused this entirely, the people gave him a chance for the longest time (but his own policies) have caused him to loose ground, you can only blame the former guy for so long..
I live in NJ and I agree.
I live here in NJ, and it looks likely that our Democratic butt-boy for Obama is going down in November to a less than overwhelming Republican candidate. Obama is putting his personal capital behind Corzine so this will be a huge loss for Obama.
I have noticed a great reversal in the Obama love-fest that helped him to an overwhelming victory last November. When Obama goes below 50% here in “corruption-central”, things are over for Obama.
Because he’s so far out there left, I thought BHO would have a hard time capturing the middle in the general election. Obviously, I was wrong.
Whatever did they think they were voting for??! They were just fed up with Bush and the pubbies, I guess, and McCrathcety had all the appeal of dish water.
Politics really stinks these days.
Yup. I think a massive “crisis” is on the near horizon. It will, in the name of national security, “require” deomestic security crack-downs and “justify” wide-spread violations of basic constitutional rights.
Such a crisis will have the added benefit for the Obamessiah mal-Administration of providing justification for reneging on his promises to close Gitmo and remove all of our combat troops from Iraq.
I think there is an excellent chance that at the end of the Obamessiah’s first term, Gitmo will still be open, and there will be MORE U.S. troops stationed on foreign soil than there were at the end of GWB’s SECOND term.
Obama is a racist Nazi.
Yep—it’s not like there’s really a choice...
I can testify to the truth of what you say being a 45+ year resident of NJ
The NJ voters are among the very dumbest in America. The favorite pass time here is pissing and moaning about taxes and Geo Bush when he was president. But ask them WHY if they are so po’d about the high taxes here, they keep voting in the same tax and spend Liberals and all you get is a dopey look and something mumbled that translates loosely as “mumble.. no alternative...all the same...never vote for Republican..mumble, mumble”
NJ voters perfectly fit the definition of insanity. that is repeating the same mistake over and over and expecting a different result each time.
You forgot...and the media will parrot them.
He isn’t LOSING... he’s LOST the middle.
They were naive and trusting, and now see him for what those of us who knew better knew he was.
He’s grotesquely overplayed his hand, and doesn’t care. He will go down in history as replacing Carter as the worst president in the last 100 years.
That’s down from 68% 6 weeks ago in a very blue State, that’s not good.
Not in New Jersey it isn't.
That state is as Democratic as they come. If the Big ZERO is at only 56% approval on Jersey, he is in deep doo doo. Equally important he is not going to be in a position to help Corzine, who is on track to lose and lose big in November
New Jersey voters...”dumber than most.”
I can’t dispute that as a fact, but I offer a comparison:
Some years ago I took a taxi from Logan field into Boston and the driver said, “Look out the window. Two-thirds of the people you see are idiots.”
“Why do you say that?,” I asked.
“Because that’s the percentage who vote for Ted Kennedy.”
