Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., addressed the Macon Chamber of Commerce Wednesday afternoon on the issue of health care reform.
While praising President Obama for spending a little political capital to address the issue, Chambliss told the audience gathered on the campus of Central Georgia Technical College that the goal of a government run option is to have everyone under a government run plan. Obama has advocated establishing a government-offered health insurance plan as a strategy to reduce health care costs by increased competition.
Appearing before reporters after his remarks, Chambliss elaborated.
[...] Chambliss also distanced himself from comments made by former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, who wrote on her Facebook page last week that Obamas healthcare proposals would lead to death boards who would deny care based the level of productivity in society of that patient.
Its a great country we live in, everyone has an opinion, Chambliss said with a grin. Governor Palins got her right to what she thinks it says. I dont necessarily agree with that.

Wow, a Republican actually spoke out...amazing.
It’s true!
Obama campaigned on this.
Here Obama is STATING THIS:
Here is where OBAMA states he wants a SINGLE PAYER HEALTH CARE SYSTEM. Heres the video of THAT and how he is questioned on that and TRIES TO WIGGLE OUT OF. He is PATHETIC on his perversion of WHAT HE SAID:

OBAMA CAMPAIGNED ON THIS!
OBAMA IS A LIAR!
This is just scratching the surface on the NUMERSOU LIES OBAMA tells and FOOLS want to believe.
The goal of fascists everywhere, to have everyone “under” the government.
Bunch of communist numbnutz. I can’t stand them. I hope they fail totally. They hate this country and it is evident.
This is the way he thanks Sarah Palin for going to Georgia and help him get re-elected? Sarah is correct on this and he’s wrong. Distancing himself from her? Hmmm, hope he doesn’t need her next time he comes up for re-election.
This just sickens me to the core.
You got that right. Our country is in the fight of its life and he's just "playing the game" and having a grand old time now that Sarah Palin bailed his sorry A$$ out in the runoff election.
One more lesson learned about the GOP, Sarah. The whole corrupt lot of 'em need to be fired.
David Karki of the Northstar Writers Group had a piece today in which he talks about the death struggle between the Left and the people over Health Care with the gutless GOP essentially doing nothing to stop the forces of radicalism:
The GOP steadfastly refuses to be a public voice of real opposition, and as such they are just as much a part of the problem. It's said that all that's need for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing, and that's exactly what the GOP is doing nothing. The only one who is clearly calling Obama and Pelosi to account is Sarah Palin. I close by linking to her statement on the health care debate, posted last Friday on her Facebook page. If not for her, there would be no Republican opposition at all.
Well that's because you're a coward and a fool. (grinning)
Senator Chambliss,
The Constitution does not allow our federal government to be invasively involved with individuals' healthcare. Any legislation that a modern liberal advocates is pernicious pervasive Socialism and must be thwarted in every way possible. You were not sent to Washington, DC simply to discover cute and clever legislation that helps people! You were sent there to uphold and protect The Constitution!
There is no possible way that Governor Palins reference to death panels will not eventually happen under Obama-care! By every trend since our founding, government bean counters would force bureaucrats to cut back the necessarily staggering out pay for goods, services and medications required under a single-payer government healthcare. This would have the direct result of the early death of any individual at the tenuous edge of survival. You and Senator Isakson will have their blood on your hands if you do not fight this Democrat plan, even to your very last breath.
With thinnest regards
higgmeister
I see you knew about Chambliss already. There is no indication that he supports Obama's plan here. While it is stupid for him to say generalities like "something must be done", it's not reason to fire him unless you know what those somethings are, From the article: (1) tort reform, (2) opt out by people who don't want insurance, (3) private health initiatives. Do you have a problem with any of those specifically? Do you have any specific proposals by Chanbliss that you disagree with?
The related article that I linked was already posted here back when it was published about 2 weeks ago.
I never said there was. The issue for me is the Beltway GOP united in their efforts to (1) make a deal with the devil over healthcare when the grassroots wants no part of it and (2) take out Sarah Palin. If Chambliss did not intend to take a shot at Palin then he's incredibly stupid to allow himself to be exploited by the media who is out to destroy Sarah Palin. Even McCain wasn't that dumb. Either way, Saxby Chambliss showed himself to be the worthless POS I believe he is.
Palin went to Georgia and stumped the state for him the day before the runoff when the weekend polls were within the margin of error. She also raised a boatload of money for him. He ended up blowing Martin out by 15 because of the turnout Palin produced. In return, she had 2 ethics complaints filed against her with the resulting personal debt generated in attorney fees.
Now this latest from Chambliss. Screw him and all the rest of the Beltway GOP. JMO and I'm sorry to say it. I've been voting for the GOP since before Reagan. From now on, I'll find individual conservatives I can support. The rest of the party can pound sand.
Stupid yes, but not incredibly stupid or willingly stupid (at least AFAIK). The media will always twist words to drive a wedge when they can get away with it (and it looks to me like they got away with it in Augusta). Since you pointed it out I would hope that Chambliss or at least the Republicans take notice that their words need to be unambiguous and they need to be vigilant.

Nothing wrong with that. I have given to many conservatives the past five years or so. Before that I was a "member of RNC" for at least five years. I see no merit in the party, but I see some merit in what Chambliss says on his website and most of his full statements about health care.
