Excellent post. The humbling perspective of total depravity, unconditional election, limited atonement, irresistable grace, and perseverance of the saints tends to keep such folks revering life as a precious gift of God. And who can be a real student of the Word of God and not find reminders laying everywhere on the pages?

What does this have to do with post 78?

I realize that having so many Catholics on the Supreme Court terrifies you, but have you considered the following:

1. All but one of the Catholics was appointed by a Republican and the ONLY conservative justices and the ONLY moderate justice are Catholics.

2. Were it not for the three Catholics, a Lutheran and an Episcopalian we would have had a President Gore.

3. Were it not for the five Catholics, our Second Amendment rights would probably be gone.

4. Were it not for the five Catholics, the partial birth abortion ban would have been declared unconstitutional.

I'm not aware of any pending cases regarding abortion, but it seems pretty clear that the ONLY hope of ending the American holocaust in the near future lies with five of the six Catholics on the Supreme Court.

The best way to fight this is not with the usual arguments against abortion, since these dimwits want to abort babies. The best argument is to ask them why they will deny treatment to older people or handicapped people but will pay for some woman to have an abortion for a non-life threatening pregnancy. They will let your granny die but will spend money on abortions.

Good point and one they will NEVER answer truthfully because the TRUTH is that they WANT the children of the poor and minorities to be killed and they WANT the middle and upper class white girls to be able to stay in college and continue their indoctrination.

GOOD AFTERNOON WAGGLEBE AND DEAR SISTER DR. E,

WB,I AND ALL FOLLOWERS OF JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD,WHO HOLD DEARLY TO THE DOCTRINES OF GRACE,LIKE AUGUSTINE,IGNATIUS AND MOST OF THE EARLY CATHOLIC CHURCH FATHERS,AS EVIDENCED BY THE CHURCH OF ROME'S COUNCIL OF ORANGE BELIEVE THE UNBORN WILL NOT BE JUDGED AND WILL BE IN HEAVEN.
HOWEVER YOUR FOLLOWING STATEMENT IS UPSURD.

“If people want to take the minority of Catholics who support abortion and somehow determine that they are representative of Catholicism, then I certainly think it’s logical to call Presbyterians who support abortion Calvinists.”

AS CAN BE FOUND BY A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH,SHOWS 53% OF THE CATHOLIC VOTE WENT TO OBAMA.THEREFORE THE CATHOLICS WHO VOTED PRO-ABORTION ARE NOT A MINORITY.

THAT VOTING BLOCK WAS INSTRUMENTAL TO OBAMA'S VICTORY.

THE PCUSA AND OLD MAIN STREAM PROTESTANTS ARE AS LIBERAL AND SOCIALLY MINDED AS LIBERAL CATHOLICS.

HOWEVER MEMBERS OF TRUE REFORMED CHURCHES ARE AS YOU CALLED CALVINISTS WHICH IS SIMPLY A STANDARD SOVERIEGN GRACE BELIEVERS HOLD TOO.

WE HOLD TO GOD'S WORD AS THE FIRST AND FINAL AUTHORITY,OUR CONFESSION IS THE WESTMINSTER.

I WAS BORN IN THE FLESH ROMAN CATHOLIC,BECAME A FOLOWER OF JESUS CHRIST AND HAVE WORSHIPPED AS A MEMBER OF THE REFORMED BAPTIST CHURCH AND NOW AM A MEMBER OF THE REFORMED PREBYTERIAN CHURCH OF NORTH AMERICA.

PLEASE RELY ON FACTS AND NOT EMOTIONS WHEN DISPARAGING SOVERIEGN GRACE BELIEVERS.

p.s. the caps are turned on because i am disabled and type with one finger.
i would thank all in advance to not comment that I'm “shouting”.

SOLI DEO GLORIA!

Thank you for affirming my belief that non-Catholics DO NOT believe that the unborn are damned.

As far as the Catholic vote, I’m inclined to agree with you, but not all Catholics are in America (nor are all Calvinists) nor do they all vote. Poland for instance is extremely pro-life and overwhelmingly Catholic. Additionally, the comment I made earlier was regarding some fringe pro-abortion group that has NO STANDING with the Catholic Church, but uses the word catholic in their name to mislead the public, they have a VERY SMALL membership. If some group decided to call themselves “Calvinists for Choice” I would express identical outrage.

My observation is that DEVOUT Catholics are in total agreement with DEVOUT Protestants/Reformed/Evangelicals on political issues concerning morality and I think it is foolish to pretend we are opposed to each other on issues like abortion, homosexuality and teen sex.

Yours in Christ.

I just retired from 40 years as an administrator in a Hawaii Catholic school. More than 75% of the teaching staff at this school voted for Zero. One of them a former nun.

Yes, so what DOES this statement have to do with the make up of the Supreme Court?:

Excellent post. The humbling perspective of total depravity, unconditional election, limited atonement, irresistable grace, and perseverance of the saints tends to keep such folks revering life as a precious gift of God. And who can be a real student of the Word of God and not find reminders laying everywhere on the pages?

I am more than willing to agree that nondevout Presbyterians don't represent Calvinism any more than nondevout Catholics represent Catholicism. However, if you insist on lumping all Catholics together, I see nothing wrong with lumping all Calvinists together and that includes the liberal Presbyterians.

Xzins, P-M, Dr. E, Alex, Tutstar, WKB: Do ANY of you believe that the souls of the 50 million American babies who have been aborted in the past 50 years are all damned to Hell?

No!

2Sam. 12:23 But now he is dead; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me."

I know it is not a definitive statement, but David's son is not all that different than the unborn. He was not even old enough to have been named before he became ill. I don't know how God handles this but I do know that God is merciful and I trust God.

FWIW, wagglebee I'm just catching up and I'll be happy to support you anytime we are talking about abortion. I don't believe the Roman Catholic Church is any better, or worse, than any Evangelical or Reformed Church on this issue. We all have problems in our membership that are way to tolerant of this evil and those who enable it.

As far as the voting %'s in the last election, my heart is with any RC that is pointing out their error to the 0 supporters. We can not save this country by picking on the other guy for having too many 0 supporters in their ranks. We have to get people to open their eyes so they don't continue in their error. FWIW, I'm trying to do the same in my church and among my friends that are not Christians.

...and we shall now see if people who hold to Catholicism actually do anything close to what they claim to believe.

Doesn't every church have this problem? The members who don't even attempt to walk the faith they profess. It's wrong and Scripture tells us very clearly that if they claim to be Christians they should be rebuked and church discipline applied. Our problem is we don't have any Christian Churches that are exercising the church discipline they are supposed to.

Some folks are obsessed with hatred toward Catholicism. It colors everything they see.
