The Daily Show with Jon Stewart - Aug 11, 2009 - Best Ever
Comedy Central ^ | 8/11/09 | Jon Stewart

Posted on 08/12/2009 11:31:15 PM PDT by dalight

I have occasionally liked a clip, or something this guy has done, but aside from a few corkers, I laughed until I was nearly sick. Sometimes comedy is really capable of pointing out when people just aren't making sense.

This episode features Stewart lampooning Obamacare, The Democrat leadership, the lame denials about rationing not happening, Racial politics, Hillary's fit in Africa that will make you choke with laughter, and an interview with one of Obama's economists who he asks, "Are we broke?" and proceeds to lay out the insanity of the path our country is taking.

I just didn't expect it.

Jon Stewart’s a Dem, but he’s a Dem in the mold of Scoop Jackson, Tip O’Neill, John Kennedy, Harry Truman, etc. USA first Dems - yes, wrong on many issues, but there was no dispute they put the US first.

Must watch TV.

That's a negative, Ghost Rider. I watched 18 minutes of it until I couldn't take any more. Stewart's an idiot, and the guy playing an economist on TV was so full of s*** that it is truly scary. I got to the part where Stewart is strapping on his kneepads and asking whether Obama is disappointed with the American people for not understanding his genius and just couldn't go on. The only funny part was the black correspondent who said "The first step toward understanding why all these people feel that they are losing their country is to acknowledge that they ARE losing their country. Sorry white people."

Stewarts got a long way to go for me to put him anywhere near Truman and JFK was a right winger compared to Bush Jr.

Stewart helped get at least 5M votes for our 1st Socialist President along with the rest of the LW Comedy channel.

Well, I’m glad you liked it. I sat through about four minutes worth and thought it was pretty much Jon Stewart’s standard schtick which I find boring and useless.

Didn't Stewart call Truman a war criminal for dropping the A-bomb?

I'm no Dem but I took great exception to this. The dropping of the bomb saved hundreds of thousands of Americans.

My favorite Dems were Daniel Patrick Moynihan and James Traficant.

Traficant told it like it is and was too funny. Moynihan cared deeply about his country and the law.

I haven’t thought about Traficant for years. Is he still in prison?

I think Traficant is due to be released. There was a story about that subject posted recently on FR.

Same here, I sat through the whole thing and all I got was confirmed in my opinion just how infantile, knee-jerk brainless and unfunny Jon Stewart is.

The worst part was the last where Stewart had on slick, cool Obama economics advisor Austin Goolsbee—whom we last heard of getting caught surreptitiously informing the Canadians that Obama really had not meant the protectionist rhetoric he had been spouting. Stewart batted him a slew of set up freebies which Goolsbee hit out of the park (”no, we’re not going to kill your grandma”—pause for laughter, etc.), basically playing a white version of Obama—handsome, confident, reassuring and saying absolutely nothing of consequence.

I can’t stand to watch this crap. I shudder to think that supposed armies of Gen-Yers who supposedly get all their “news” from the Daily Show think they’re being smart and hip.

Jon Stewart is great. Alot of cons don’t like him because he made his name bashing Bush, but he was around hitting Clinton before and is (albeit slowly) critisizing Obama now. I see him a left-Libertarian, but let’s face it, there aren’t alot of hardcore conservative comedians. The best are always POed libertarians.

I watched the start of his show once for 5 minutes and he did nothing but viciously attack the Pope so I switched away. Then I clicked back with 5 minutes left of his show and we was again viciously attacking the Pope.
