Protests fail to halt passage of Chavez's 'socialist indoctrination law'

Police in riot gear used tear gas yesterday against Venezuelan demonstrators angry about a law that they believe could lead to the "socialist indoctrination" of the nation's schools.

Officers fired tear gas into crowds who were protesting in Caracas against President Chávez's plans to broaden state control over the education system.

Scuffles broke out as clouds of caustic, white gas wafted through the air outside the predominantly pro-Chávez National Assembly.

Inside, legislators began debating a Bill which would order schools to base the curriculum on "the Bolivarian Doctrine" - a reference to the ideals of the 19th-century independence hero Simon Bolivar.

But close to a dozen members sided with the opposition and walked out of the assembly in protest against the ruling party’s refusal to compromise on the Bill’s most contentious articles.

They were also angered when the Assembly President, Cilia Flores, accused them of obstructing the debate and ordered their microphones to be shut off.

“We decided to withdraw because they did not accept our proposals or recommendations,” said Juan Jose Molina of the Podemos party.

Critics fear that Mr Chávez’s government intends to win over hearts and minds through classroom indoctrination.

“They don’t use the word ’socialism,” said one of the protesters, “but that’s what they want to introduce in our schools.”

If we can’t keep Socialist Indoctrination out of our schools, why should Venezuela be any different?

Sounds just like the health care ‘protests’ here in the US. Folks this band of thugs in the WH are a nefarious group who want to do us harm.

Socialism was tried many times in many ways during the last century. In the countries were it was tried, it either self-destructed or was abandoned.

Molding Our Children into World Citizens for the New World Order

“Among the elementary measures the American Soviet government will adopt to further the cultural revolution are...[a] National Department of Education...the studies will be revolutionized, being cleansed of religious, patriotic, and other features of the bourgeois ideology. The students will be taught the basis of Marxian dialectical materialism, internationalism and the general ethics of the new Socialist society.”

- William Z. Foster,
Toward Soviet America, 1932
National Chairman of the
American Communist Party (1933-44, 1945-57)

“Children who know how to think for themselves spoil the harmony of the collective society which is coming where everyone is interdependent.”

John Dewey, 1899, our “father” of education

_____________
They’ve been at it for a long time. It’s time for a complete overhaul of our Govt to get back to the basics of the Constitution. .. and to regain control of our education system. We’ve been too polite for too long.

The taxpayer-funded “public” educational system, and especially the schools has been an unmitigated disaster by every metric and yet nowhere has there been more damage than the full and complete indoctrination of its charges in the socialist and secular philosophy of our age.

This alone explains the youth vote and why legions of lemmings voted for Obama on the vacuous “Hope & Change” slogan and of course with the MSM as their earnest enablers.

Obama’s mentor, Saul Alinsky has won. We are now on an irreversible path to full scale third world socialism.

“We are now on an irreversible path to full scale third world socialism.”

I’m not ready to throw in the towel just yet. I believe that the majority of America’s population does NOT want Socialism and/or world governance. There needs to be 100 more Glen Becks, Rush Limbaughs and other educators who encourage (and educate) ‘We the People’ to insist on an end to corruption in DC. .. and to vote IN only those who start talking about restoring our Constituional Republic. (which may be worth mentioning at the town hall meetings)

Granted, the socialists have the majority of the tv networks, but look at their poor ratings. We have the internet and our voices to spread the truth and expose their tactics.

I hope and pray you are right. But a whole generation of indoctrination whose products have now vaulted to the highest positions in government, industry, the media, and the professions is like trying to change the course direction of the Titanic on a dime.
