But I will blame them, especially black conservatives, if they do it again.
In my mind, it will be racist.
The increase in the percentage of the black vote for Barack Obama was not that great. Blacks are a strong Democratic constituency group. Al Gore got 90% of the black vote. John Kerry got 88%. In fact since Carter, no Democratic candidate has received less than 82% of the black vote.
What surprised me in 2008 was that Obama got 78% of the Jewish vote. Jews were second only to blacks as a Democratic constituency group in 2008 with Latinos coming in third at 67% for Democrats and Asians were fourth at 62% for Obama.
Obama served his purpose for the latter two groups, the first minority attaining the presidency. As for Jews, I think more and more of them are recognizing Obama's disdain for Jews.
Particularly given the GOP gave none of us much to vote for in the last campaign. If the GOP nominee is a more inspiring candidate, ie Palin, I would think black conservatives would be more likely to vote GOP.
Not Protestant Hispanics who made up about 32% of the Hispanic vote, they went about 48% for McCain after going 56% for Bush in 2004.
Sadly, I beleive J.C. Watts voted for 0bama.
At least I think he regrets it now.
Well as I recall JC Watts danced around the question on Hannity’s show so I’d say about six or seven actually did.

There are a lot more than five AA freepers. I think we’d all be shocked if we knew who was posting here.

If you figure 10% of blacks are Republicans—which is overgenerous—and 12% of the voters are black, you could assume that 1.2% of voters are black Republicans, for which you’d need a survey of nearly 50,000 randomly selected voters to get a statistically valid result.
I agree that it’s pointless to pander to blacks but I do think it can be fruitful (and it’s the right thing to do) for conservatives to stand firm against real racism and to show enough sensitivity to the issue so that it’s not easy to make the claims of racism stick. The assumption that conservatives are racist doesn’t only hurt Republicans with blacks but with other non-white groups and even a sizable number of whites. As such, it’s in the best interest of conservatives to reasonably avoid the appearance of racism and to condemn real racism when it pops up among conservatives.
Check out my redaction after that, In the process of writing my reply, I thought the question was “How many voted for McCain.” If you read my reply, it makes no sense otherwise. Unless you are a liberal, ideology trumps identity politics.
Thanks for the link. :)

You already said that and I will repeat my point, there is no such thing as “the Hispanic vote”, there is a Catholic Hispanic vote and a Protestant Hispanic vote.
That means there is something to study there.

The point is that even in the year of Obama, McCain won 48% of the Protestant Hispanic vote.
The Protestant Hispanic vote is roughly a 50/50 vote split between democrats and republicans, that needs to be known, acknowledged, and studied, and used by republicans in a district by district basis.
Being ignorant and continuing to think that “Hispanics” vote a certain way when they don’t is a block to unraveling the path to winning over the Hispanic vote of both religious blocks.

Don’t be defensive, it is only information about voter demographics.
Accept this information that is new to you. Write a letter to the pro-immigration Wall Street Journal telling them what you have learned.
