I never used to like his voice but the more gnarly it became, it seems like the stories got better..........He is great. Another true story writer I like is Leonard Cohen.......
The lyrics of Cohen are almost obscured by the lovely quality of his voice.
Dylan’s voice is a remarkable instrument in itself. It is hard to believe the lovely songs on Nashville Skyline or New Morning are by the same person who snarls out Desolation Row.
And the stories range over thousands of years from Isis to today. As an artist Dylan is a Titan who only has a few compatriots that can even compare and none that top him. Elvis, Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Satchmo, Duke and the Count are the only ones I would mention in the same breathe. But they don’t compare as song writers.
