Wonder if anyone will address this?

Last year:

Obama: My Grandmother was a typical white person...

Now:

Obama invokes grandmother's death in health debate

I am SO glad you made a ping list! I will be here for a while before I go to mass. (Moving slow today so didn’t get ready in time for the early ones.)

Entirely possible they will not even get it thru the House. Remember, a good 80 of those Democrats seats were won in Republican leaning districts. Like Obama, a lot of Democrats lied their way into office last year by posturing as fiscally Conservative "new Democrats". Going to have a hard time running as a good old boy down home if you act like an Obama clone in DC.

They don't have GW Bush to demagogue about in 2010 to cover how they vote in DC now.

Morning AB and thanks for the thread. We are all in storm mode down here for the next few weeks. Just had our fill of TD4 but it looks like "Bill"(the real threat) should miss us.

A few bright spots in the lineup but mostly the same ol' same ol' regulars picked by the DBM.

I find it highly offensive that he uses both his grandmother's and his mother's death in this debate.

I remind those who didn't notice that he barely saw his grandmother during her final months, and for all his talk about his mother worrying about insurance he apparently did NOTHING to help her.

He already had that big book advance and he could have told her "Don't worry about the money, mom. I'll take care of it."

He could have cut short his stay in the South Pacific for book writing in order to come to Hawaii and run interference with the insurance company, since he was a lawyer.

He did nothing, and I don't think he was even there when she died. And we all remember how his grandmother didn't get a real funeral and the memorial service had to be scheduled around his campaign.

So, his use of these two now-dead women is highly offensive to me.

From now on, it's no longer "death panels", it's "making Grandma Shovel Ready" - connects multiple spending programs together and ties it all together.

This morning on the C-SPAN talk show, the moderator seemed to take sides and commented that "The death panel notion has been totally debunked." So why did this get removed, if it wasn't there in the first place? And why is the C-SPAN moderator taking sides?

Morning Morgan, hope your weather is better than ours this time of year.

You are of course correct about the Joker. He will sign anything put on his table. Knowing that whatever is left out can be put back in during their midnight legislation sessions.

The game remains tanking the economy and Free Market Capitalism replacing it with the worst form of cradle to grave statism/communism available.

Exactly if we want to win the Obamcare debate all we need do is run tv ads in the old peoples districts stating its an old persons duty to take a pill and die, game, set, match.

CO dem pols told their people to arrive earlier than the publicized time for the town hall. Of course every seat was taken and those with tickets were turned away.

Couldn’t take a chance on too many real Americans turning up.

How that college student managed to get in is amazing.

He has asked the one really tough question of the messiah.

Needless to say, the messiah dragged out UPS. Fed Ex and the pitiful post office again.

If you find Obama’s behavior bad, try reading the book written by a reporter who was out with John Kerry in the very early days of his campaign leading to the 2004 election. Kerry had a special cell phone so his sister could call him directly to let him know that Mom had gotten worse or passed. The alternative was for Kerry to stay home and pass on the election. Everybody has decisions to make, and some are easier to defend than others.

Obie made some pithy comment about paying for a procedure for his grandmother out of his own pocket. Doesn't the dipstick realize that the plans being considered now make that a FEDERAL CRIME????

What an idiot.

There are 5 masses today at my church, including one at 6PM (mostly young adults who sleep in plus people who have to work on Sunday mornings like nurses). Also a vigil mass on Saturday and a Hispanic mass this afternoon.

We are a suburban church started in the 50's when there were very few Catholics out in this neck of the woods. As Indianapolis grew and families moved to the suburbs, our church has grown huge. We even split off a parish west of us and we are still growing.

If I had only ONE mass I would probably need to be a lot more organized on Sunday mornings. LOL!

All the amendments, contents, bloviating, claiming something IS in the bill, claiming something is NOT in the bill, etc., is meaningless rhetoric at this point.

The real issue will be the compromise version and what it does and does not contain.

Dems have already sort of let Pubbies pack the House version with amendments, because Dem leaders expect those Pubbie amendments to be removed from the compromise version.

The compromise bill is the one both chambers will try to push through rapidly, in the wee dark morning hours, before it can be read by the public.

Watch for Reid and Pelosi to pull various tricks:

Watch for the compromise version and the ensuing tricks to get it passed. The compromise version is the one that counts.

I listened to this event on c-span radio, and found it very heartwarming as a lifetime afficianado of radio entertainment. Inflections in voices can be heard via radio that are lost when watching an appearance on tv.
Specter was grilled for a half hour, followed by Sestak. Both of them tried to assure their audience that they were ‘progressive’ enough to please any Pennsylvania voter. The tone in the questioners’ voices was mainly , “OMG, is this all we’ve got for candidates for Pennsylvania next year.”

It was nauseating yet amusing to listen to Specter squirm and weasel, and to hear a soporific Sestak try to sound like a lib.

Senator Arlen Specter Specter and his Democratic primary rival Congressman Joe Sestak participated in a discussion moderated by Pennsylvania blogger Susie Madrak and Ari Melber of The Nation at the Netroots Nation conference, an annual gathering of progressive bloggers from around the country. The Congressman did not appear together in the program.

Senator Spector discussed his record in the Senate, including his switch earlier in April 2009 from Republican to Democrat. He also responded to questions from audience members. Other topics included climate change and health care legislation, stem cell research, and televising the U.S. Supreme Court.

Among the topics Congressman Sestak addressed were his qualifications for Senator and his support of the FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) bill.
