Excellent analysis. The rebellious ideologues, the advocates of societal drop out, the bomb throwers, and the haters of big government from the 1960's are now themselves the establishment, pushing a bigger and more pervasive socialist/nationalist police state down our throats.

It's not part of the media fantasy that boomers grew up - and rather than being at Woodstock, we're at townhall meetings (on the conservative side).

Liberals ARE the Establishment in our time.

Fight the liberal death machine - fight health care committees...

The majority of us want to live free and believe in capitalism, just as our founding fathers did. The core beliefs that can unite us once again are the same as those that united Americans who stood up in the 1960s or in 1776 - a people and a system that above all else understand the wisdom and necessity of an accountable and limited federal government.

The analysis is flawed. There was nothing noble about the hippy/rock movement sixties and seventies. They believed in socialism, communism, and the destruction of America. Those d@mned bands the author talked about wanted change alright they wanted communism to be ascendant so we all could be "free". To this day they still want communism forced upon the American people. They will lie cheat and deceive to accomplish their goals. Their mendacity knows no bounds. And the Democrats support this. Any American that votes for Democrats are voting for people that want to destroy our way of life and make us slaves. These people were used and brainwashed and to this day they still believe they are on the side of freedom. It is incredible. I hope the author is right about the majority of our people believing in freedom and capitalism.

It’s “Meet the new boss - same as the old boss” No “just”.

And “the times they are a-changin’”

Bugs me when quotes are wrong.

in what amounted to a musical renaissance that took place in the 1960s and '70s.

The 60s were NOT a renaissance.

Of course, if you went to school in the 60s, you might have been taught that "renaissance" means, "A self-absorbed attempt to destroy classical values."
