“Bottom line? Im not taking this hit alone. As soon as the Democrats manage to get their tax increases on the books, Im going to take steps to make sure that my family isnt affected. When you own the business, that is what youre allowed to do. I built this business over a period of 23 years, and Im not going to see my family suffer because we have a president and a congress who think that wealth is distributed rather than earned. Any additional taxes, of whatever description, that President Obama and the Democrats inflict on this business will come straight out of any funds I have set aside for expansion or pay and benefit increases. Any plans I might have had to hire additional employees for new stores will be put aside. Any plans for raises for the people I now have working for me will be shelved. Year-end bonuses might well be eliminated. That may sound rough, but thats the reality.”
BUMP!
Every employer needs to have a meeting like this. I’m sending this to MY employer, owner of a private company in his family for 104 years. He is already mad as h3ll and isn’t going to take it anymore.
We’ll keep our jobs, but just barely. I think the last raise we just got WILL be our last raise for some time to come.
Thanks again, 0bama voters. And thanks AGAIN all those ‘conservatives’ that sat on their hands and let this happen. (Was it really that hard to have voted for Sarah?) ;)
I know...you were just delaying the inevitable...
Bravo...BRAVO!
Maybe all those late nights the boss puts in were the times he was making deals with the magic place to screw the employees and get more for himself.
Obviously the magic place is biased, for the poor workers are never picked up out of their bars, off their sofas, or off their used boats that they barely make payments on and taken to the magic place, nor they are or handed a college diploma or big bank “loans”.
They have heard rumors that the magic place is called “Hard work, effort and sacrifice” but that can't be right, it sounds so unpleasant and the boss has all the luxuries and possessions a man could want, why would he need to suffer like the rest of us poor souls...
It's not fair and somebody needs to make adjustments to that magic place so it will hand out the money more fairly.
I think one of the best business experiences someone can have is to work for a start-up and/or a very small business. This story gives a good example of one of the key experiences gained, the reality check of cash-flow. Challenges regulation, compliance, and tax can be burdensome creatures to say the least. Asking for a tax increase on the wealthy (under whatever disguise, like healtcare reform) can easily equate to fewer paychecks.
Pinging for a great article. Headsup to an outstanding FR contribution in post #5, too.
ping to send out to employees
