Series of Blasts in Baghdad Kill 50, Injure 300
Fox News ^ | August 10, 2009

A series of explosions struck the Iraqi capital Wednesday, targeting primarily government and commercial buildings, killing at least 50 people and wounding more than 300 others, Iraqi police told Reuters.

The blasts follow a string of attacks in Iraq this month that have claimed more than 200 lives and left hundreds more wounded, raising concerns about the abilities of Iraqi security forces to keep the lid on violence in advance of the American withdrawal.

The seemingly coordinated car bomb blasts and mortar attacks began around midmorning Wednesday, striking first near the Finance Ministry in northern Baghdad and then minutes later by the Foreign Ministry near the Green Zone.

The deadliest explosion occurred near the Foreign Ministry, just outside Baghdad's heavily protected Green Zone, killing at least seven and wounding at least 55 people, an Iraqi police and medical official said.

A 10-story building that is part of the ministry complex was badly damaged. The explosion was so strong that it also damaged nearby buildings and destroyed dozens of car outside, according to AP Television News footage. A huge area outside the ministry was covered by debris and broken glass.

I wonder what The Marxist Onada will do if the Iraqi government asks us to help them out in the cities. We bailed out of the trouble cities—Baghdad, Mosel and couple of others—too soon for Onada’s political goals.

If the Iraqis ask to go back I think it will be very interesting to see how The Messiah slithers out of it.

Who the heck cares? We shouldn’t have gone to Iraq in the first place. Has Bush ever located those “weapons of mass destruction” he kept on talking about?

Too many conservatives have been conned into defending Bush, who wasn’t a conservative, but a rather incompetent “compassionate” conservative, whatever that is.

..... I believe that the solution to this problem lies in Teheran.

You're absolutely right.

Both sad and troubling. We have a weak CIC set on exiting Iraq. He is a cluelss cut and run advocate.

I cry for our lost heroes who paid the ultimate price. May God forever hold them dear and watch over our troops who are serving our nation.

He’s stationed at Camp Sather in Iraq. I don’t know how close that is to all of this crap today. Frustrated.

Sather is OK. It's over at Victory Base.

Who the heck cares?

Those FReepers who have loved ones in Iraq care.

And those of us who live in Iraq and have worked for this - who made it work before your hero Obama came along to screw it all up care.

“Has Bush ever located those “weapons of mass destruction” he kept on talking about?”

Don’t even know why I bother responding to such myopia, but would you have rather have found out whether or not he still had WMD by waiting for one in New York?

If Bush went in that direction, and the worst happened, what would you be saying then? You’d be condemning him as a coward, because “EVERYBODY knew Saddam had WMD - why didn’t Bush go after them?”

Worst kind of hypocrite is the America-hating kind...

Anybody who is a decent person cares, steven.

Anyone who supports our military cares, steven.

Anyone who's child or husband or wife has sacrificed freedom, security, and sometimes health or life cares, steven.

btw, welcome to FR, steven. Maybe after a while you won't be so accepting of leftist tripe about WMD.

Iraq is the Germany of the 21st century.....it is a amazingly strategic place to hold. ( look at a map)

The weapons were there and they were removed, often times when we found evidence of WMA, Dubya, never touted it.

Was the war fought properly..........its up for debate I think it was not prosecuted hard enough.

I have friends over there.....and your flippant attitude is really not appreciated or constructive.

Thank you so much.

We usually hear from him when somethings going on over there, so I’m sure he’ll call/email just to let us know he’s ok. I just hate the waiting.

God Bless!!!

Sometimes they have a blackout on calling for a while.

It's a rough time for those of us who wait at home.

I'm praying for him and for YOU.
