Remember the vast rightwing conspiracy? It’s ba-a-a-ck, turning its considerable resources to ruining health care reform and wrecking legislation aimed at curbing climate change.
Despite the insistence of Republican leaders that the tea-party crowd and the town-hall protestors are merely concerned individuals who have spontaneously made the decision to shout and yell threats at public meetings, the protests are, in fact, prodded by networks of conservative activists. Richard Mellon Scaife, a Pittsburg billionaire who is the financial lifeblood of ultra-conservative activism, is a contributor, according to The Washington Post.
That’s not to deny the individual anger or anxiety on display on cable TV. Hardcore conservatives are quite unhappy, some over proposals for health care reform, many others over a wider range of policies and positions they associate with the Obama administration. If conservative voters weren’t already upset by cultural and political changes, they wouldn’t turn out, no matter how much they were urged on by networks of activists.

Scaife's Tribune Review is hardly poaching subscribers from the establishment Pittsburgh Post-Gazette because it is undercutting it on price. The Post-Gazette is losing subscibers for the same reason that liberal mouthpieces are losing subscribers in other markets: (1)they do a poor job of providing balance in their editorial content and (2)they do a poor job of covering local issues. Add to that mix is the fact that the Post-Gazette is unionized and the Tribune-Review is not.
And the AJC (Atlanta Journal Constipation) can’t understand why they are losing readers at a record pace.
Where do I sign up?
I keep wanting to ask this — but where do I get my check? I’ve been a member for a very long time, and never have found out who to contact for my pay as a member of the VRWC.

Sorry to disappoint, but Dickie Scaife sold out to Soros, Heinz, and the other elites long ago. He even sucked up and kissed the butt of Bill Clinton. Even his once conservative newspaper looks like all the rest with some conservative op-ed thrown in on Sunday. We have no $ on our side, just a lot of formerly middle class individuals struggling to stop the elites from turning us all into serfs.

Scaife, while generous to certain causes, simply doesn’t have money to burn. Remember, he actually earned his billions by creating and selling a product which people actually wanted to buy rather than by gaming the system and bankrupting third world currencies the way Soros did.
