The flu is unfairly singling out certain groups in the population for flu-like symptoms.
Or... we could just infect the other groups in the population to the same percentage level as the most affected group... and everything would be equal and fair !

use good handwashing techniques, get enough sleep, fish oil, vitamin c, and d, and drink plenty of fluids...

At least they will have swine flu vaccine available for shots; I’ve advised my college-aged children and other family members to avoid the inoculations like the plague.
It’s not just kids either. Most adults that work for an hourly wage won’t stay home when sick because they can’t afford to lose pay. The whole family might be sick but the parents send the kids to school and then go to work sick. My company has already said that anybody that shows up with a fever will be sent to the doctor immediately and not allowed to work until they are better.
You know, that’s a good point. My son manages a restaurant. Wonder what their policy is going to be.

My kid’s in grad school now, but during college and now grad school, he’s never missed a class.
What does that mean? He’s gone to class sick a few times. He says he “drugs” himself up in order to make a class, which means an OTC non-drowsy cold medicine.
Problem is, in some college classes, and grad classes, the profs offer no make up opportunities, and aren’t real willling to accept the excuse, “I wss sick.” Most classes are 3 hours, once a week, and if you miss one, you’ve missed a lot of material. Hopefully, the profs will be more forgiving if there’s a flu outbreak.

Btw, this is an OTC remedy to battle the flu. The FDA has approved it for this use.

I just read the page, interesting. Problem is, does this boost the immune system? From what I’ve read the reason that flus similar to this swine flu kill more young people and healthy people is that they impact people with a healthy immune response more than a less efficient immune response. They kill by causing a cytokine storm...which is an overstimulation of the immune system. So I’d be interested to know if this is an immune booster. I’ll have to do more research on it.

One thing I HAVE been able to confirm is that Vitamin D WILL play a role in keeping the flu at bay.

...I an SOOO sick and tired of this argument. Choices have consequences. You chose your job. Then you chose to have children. The children part was a bad choice. Guess it’s time to raise minimum wage to $100 an hour AND force companies to pay employees whether they show up or not to stop all of this needless pain and anguish. ~sarc
