DNC admitting flag@whitehouse.gov operation collected data ?

So claims Erick Erickson at Redstate, and Greg Sargent’s attempt to explain the White House response does appear to confirm it. Even Greg sounds less than convinced by the latest Obama administration pushback on its Snitch Central e-mail line, now defunct, which is to claim that Senator John Cornyn’s website also collects information from submissions to an information line. Greg, Erick, and Cornyn point out the very obvious difference:

Now the DNC is striking back by pointing out that similar email collection is done on the Web sites of Senators and members of Congress, including … John Cornyn.

Over on Cornyn’s Senate Web site, for instance, you find that people who want to contact the Senator are asked to submit personal info, such as their names, addresses and emails, which are all required.

So two wrongs make a right. As usual.

I don't see how the fact that other business's collect information on us even begins to compare with the draconian collection of data by obamnation which is expressly ratting on someone for not loving the obamanation. It's more like a compilation for a Hit List, and I do mean hit list.

no comparison....

I’m thinking of filing a FOIA on myself to see what they’ve collected on me - me and my whole family all reported ourselves as thinking impure thoughts about the health care bill, most of us multiple times.

We should ALL do this. Overwhelm the system. Use their own 'Rules for Radicals' against them. Make them choke on it:

RULE 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules.

Law. Broken.

Hiding the evidence would be another law broken.

I'm sure the MSM will be right on it.

A Senator is not the same as the President. They are both wrong, but there is something much more ominous about the TOTUS doing it.

open union ballots, ratting out your neighbors to the Whitehouse, having the press investigate and eviscerate citizens for “uttering”, elected officials calling/labeling citizens names, election ballot obstruction done overtly and allowed, daily lies, barnstorming NYC...

I am so glad we don’t have Bush repressing our civil rights any longer. Pheww!!!

The difference is the Executive branch falls under the Hatch Act but Congress does not. Article I Section 5 of the US Constitution authorizes Congress to make its own rules, etc., and they zealously defend that distinction. (That's the unspoken reason they use to not apply deathcare to themselves - don't want to cede any power to the Executive branch. That and they know the coverage will bite it.)

One may question the ethics of a Congresscritter harvesting addresses but, to borrow a phrase, "there is no controlling legal authority." Obama cannot use that excuse to avoid falling down the Hatch [Act].

Senator Cornyn isn't wrong, for his website asks the person contacting him to give their info about themselves, which they can simply choose to forego. Not other people's info. The Rats are hoping people will miss this pertinent difference.

"Would you like to sign up for my Senate office mailing list?" is different from "Turn in your friends and neighbors for thoughtcrimes". The first is me opting in for being on the list, the second is either me being turned in as an enemy of Obama or me turning in someone else but having my email then used as Spam-bait.

Truth be known, the name was originally “flagg@whitehouse.gov“, named after the architect, Randall Flagg, who has sometimes been referred to as a fictional character, but no doubt works for this group now....

Obama administration keeps the motivation high to attend the “discussion” in DC.

Lies, excess, hypocrites, thugs.

Huh? Run that by me one more time?

Geeez, if this isn't illustrative of the difference between the statist-leftists running this WH & the rest of the country (including honest liberals), I don't know what is.

In the Cornyn illustration you have citizens themselves, of their own free will & volition, volunteering their own personal information to provide a contact to the person from whom they're seeking to receive a response.

In the White House's example, we have third parties sending the WH other people's personal information without their permission to report them to the Chief Law Enforcement officer of the land for suspicious activities, and said Chief LE collects that personal information belonging to private citizens who are merely critiquing his Administration's policies, information which has been procured by informants without the express knowledge let alone the consent of the people whose privacy is being violated.

And in Barrack Obama's mind, these two situations are indistinguishable? He's going to stand in front of the nation & make that ludicrous contention with a straight face?

That this President isn't capable of making a legal* let alone an ethical distinction between those two scenarios means he is waaaaay more obtuse than anyone imagined and Barack Obama's Magic Telepromter TM deserves a hearty apology from me. Clearly, I hadn't been giving TOTUS sufficient credit before.
