The number of new cases of human swine flu in Ireland is increasing, with around 1,800 reported in the week to last Sunday.
According to new figures from the Department of Health, 12 more patients have been hospitalised; a total of 62 people have received hospital treatment to date.
Department officials said this evening that 19 people remain in hospital, including four in intensive care.
Two people have died from the virus in the Republic.
The HSE says that it expects to have a licensed vaccine around the end of September and that it will be given to the whole population.
Dr Pat Doorley of the HSE said that the first people to be vaccinated will be health staff, those in at-risk groups and children.
Meanwhile, the latest figures from the World Health Organisation show that over 182,000 laboratory confirmed cases of swine flu have been reported around the world, with 1,799 fatalities.
The laboratory-confirmed cases represent an underestimation of total cases, as many countries have moved away from containment to clinical confirmation by family doctors with laboratory testing only for people with severe illness and those in the high-risk category.
The pandemic H1N1 virus is the dominant influenza virus in circulation in the world.
Germany could begin immunizing people against the virus in a couple of months...
The first of 50 million doses of swine flu vaccine could be distributed by this fall, the German government has ruled.
Germans could begin receiving the vaccine against the H1N1 virus as soon as the end of September, said Health Minister Ulla Schmidt.
The decision on Wednesday by the federal government paves the way for Germany’s biggest mass vaccination in postwar history. The country has already ordered 50 million doses of vaccine, which is still undergoing clinical tests.
That would immunize up to a third of the population against the virus, which is more commonly known as swine flu.
The first to be vaccinated will be people with chronic illnesses or immune disorders, pregnant women, healthcare workers and emergency services personnel. Vaccination should be free of cost for everyone with private or public health insurance.
Depending upon how many people are vaccinated, the program will cost the government and private insurers between 600 million euros ($852 million) and one billion euros.
The details of how to carry out the immunizations, such as whether they will be administered by public health offices or by personal physicians, are being left up to each German state.
So far there have been about 12,500 confirmed cases of swine flu in Germany. 300 to 500 new infections are reported every day, Schmidt said.

Conspiracy? Or is the illuminati trying to wipe out many people in the world with the Killer vaccine?
Or we could simply go with garden variety greed.
I’m sick of this crap, let’s compare this against the average every day flu folks, it’s nothing but shock and awe to get to run in and get your “3” frankenjab’s ...
You asked — Conspiracy? Or is the illuminati trying to wipe out many people in the world with the Killer vaccine?

Well, consider that there have been about three flu virus pandemics per century, on the average for the last few centuries (about three, I think they have records for)...
And the last time there was a declared “flu virus pandemic” was 47 years ago. So, at the average rate of three a century, that means that we were well overdue for such a flu pandemic, at any rate.
But, those are just averages, and there has been known (in history) to be two flu virus pandemics just ten years apart.
SO..., if it’s the Illuminati doing it — then they are doing a *real poor job* of it, since they’ve waited for 47 years since the last one... LOL...
“Conspiracy? Or is the illuminati trying to wipe out many people in the world with the Killer vaccine?”
Are the Chinese and Indians going to take the vaccine? Are the elites in the U.S. going to take it? Wait and see where this goes.
One of the clinical trials for a swine flu vaccine was begun in India. They gave elderly in India large amounts of vaccine for the phase known as toxicity.
Ping
I see your point!
Looks like the Aussies are now good to go..
YIKES!
EXCLUSIVE: MILLIONS of Australians will be vaccinated against the deadly swine flu within weeks.
Pregnant women, health workers and the chronically ill will be first to get the medicine.
The Federal Government will take delivery of two million doses of the vaccine by the end of next week.
More than 450,000 doses have been earmarked for Victoria - where 22 people with the disease have died.
Special immunisation clinics are likely to be set up in major hospitals, while GPs will also administer the vaccine.
Vaccinations could begin by September 7 if approval is given by Chief Medical Officer Jim Bishop and a team of health experts.
The Government has ordered 21 million doses of the swine flu vaccine, enough to protect every Australian.
Pregnant women, especially those in the second or third trimester, and anyone with a respiratory illness, such as asthma or cystic fibrosis, will be vaccinated first.
Cardiac patients, cancer sufferers, the morbidly obese and those with type 2 diabetes would also get priority, along with doctors, nurses and other health workers.
Federal health authorities are still awaiting safety data from vaccine manufacturer CSL before approving the massive vaccination program, which will be closely watched overseas.
It is believed the Government is not fully satisfied with initial information provided by the company.
CSL spokeswoman Rachel David said the vaccine was almost identical to its seasonal flu formulation, and trials had revealed no unanticipated side effects.
“We have given the Government an initial safety update on the swine flu trials, which confirms there are no untoward or unexpected issues with adverse events,” she said.
“We will continue to monitor this throughout the trial and after the vaccine is released to the market.”
D) All of the above.
imho.
“They gave elderly in India large amounts of vaccine for the phase known as toxicity.”
Well, they’re just OLD people and they don’t have any money. Who cares, right?
They have a bit more money now, though. Heh, heh.
