MINNEAPOLIS, MN - Leaders of the country's largest Lutheran denomination have moved toward a more welcoming view of homosexuality.

Delegates of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, meeting in Minneapolis, approved a "social statement on human sexuality" that acknowledges differing views on homosexuality. It says the ELCA is strong enough to accommodate such differences.

Wednesday's vote was a prelude to votes scheduled Friday on whether to let people in same-sex relationships serve as Lutheran ministers.

Likely hewing to the Holy Scriptures at least as closely as the LCMS.

Prayers addressed to a “person” that is not an innate part of and sharing in the divinity and power of the Godhead (i.e., not the Father, not the Son, and not the Holy Spirit) are (1) pointless, (2) self-deceptive, and (3) blasphemous.

The First and only Head of the Christian church is Jesus, the Christ. It has no human head, not one, but has suffered many spectacularly attired pretenders.

I’m still slogging through the transcripts and summaries and will shortly post Richard Johnson’s summaries of the morning.

Short answer:

“Bound Conscience” resolution passed, by close to 2/3 margin, (50% needed for passage)

Allowing congregations that choose to do so to affirm homosexual unions (gay “marriage”) passed by 60% margin, 50% required for passage.

Votes have not yet been taken on Ordaining partnered gays but the trend looks like 60/40 vote in favor.

I left the Espicopal because of their liberal stance

now I stay at home saying a prayer when I want as do my children.

either the churches gets back to their religion and starts talking about how wrong homosexuals are or they’ll be losing a lot more folks

still if that does happen the homos will be happy as they have bene infesting our churches for some time now

I skipped over your reference to that strange belief that homosexuals can be “not active”. How ridiculous. They are always active. That’s why they don’t live as long.

I agree with that. I do not believe anyone hires them because of that reason church or otherwise.

The thing is they are already "there" and all church management is doing is convincing them to stick around. This, of course, drives off your higher cost straight people.

I'm sure someone at Fidelity Investments has an actuarial table showing this which demonstrates the immense advantages a homosexual minister has over a straight minister.

Groaaaann. You nailed it. They should only see what those "nice" fellas do in their dens of inquity. I used to live in a major downtown arts district. You had to hide your eyes on the street at night.

I was taking a trip with my kids and wife in Boston.
We planned to go to Boston common and see some historical sights, go on the swan boats etc.

that day to our surprise it was homo parade day

I swear what we saw changed out minds about how they really are when they are with their own kind.

yes they are nice to us , yes they give the sob stories, yes they say about how it is love and want to be left alone but when I saw how they act, dress and talk then it woke us up and it was the most disgusting things I have ever seen.

those people who say they know one and are nice needs to go to these freak parades and actually see their new homosexual friends how they really are.

The homosexual community have been saying on their sites for some time that they should get friendly with us, they should then tell them they are homosexuals once they know they have their new found friends trusted.

sorry to add on to you but if those kind of people who have become friends with them actually saw places like the Folsom fair etc then they would look at their new found homosexual friends differently

maybe that is why the media refuses to show these kind of things

You are 100% correct. It’s one thing to be acquainted with a polite, smiling “gay” person. It’s quite another to know them well. I am a woman. I had several gay male friends like brothers (all dead in their 40s). Their “gayness” papered over a huge amount of pain and self-loathing.

We had that same experience in New York City some years ago. My twins boys were about 11, and when I saw the way some of the paraders looked at them I was sickened. This should never be normalized as it is, and now the ELCA joins in on it officially.

Not all Lutheran churches have “moved toward a more welcoming view of homosexuality”. Are you familiar with the Luther Church Missouri Synod(LCMS, my church) or the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS)? If you want a more Scripture oriented Lutheran Church, you could pick one of those.

If you wanted a more conservative, G_d oriented Church, you could have joined either the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod (LCMS), or the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS)

Don’t know...are you Wisconsin Synod? I think they are even more conservative than the LCMS...so I would think their stand on Homosexuality is similar to the LCMS, but can’t really speak for them.
