Noisome?

So the NYT Editorial board is reduced to saying that we smell funny?

That's some nice name callin' there, Pinch.

Well, admittedly, after a day at the range, we probably do smell funny.

But I wear that as a badge of honor, not a metrosexual embarasssment trait.

NY Times, 1775: It is hard to know what is more shocking: the sight of a dozen Americans showing up to flaunt guns on Lexington Green on the 18th of April, or the fact that the swaggering display was completely legal. We are all familiar with the right to bear arms and the noisome extremes indulged by its zealots. But is there no sense of simple respect due the nation’s ruler when his soldiery venture forth among the citizenry?

I have what may be a silly question, but doesn’t it seem odd that the man in the picture was carrying the Rifle on his right shoulder and his sidearm on his left hip?

Maybe I’m showing my ignorance of the subject, but wouldn’t carrying the holster on the left imply the person is Left handed? It doesn’t look like a cross-draw type holster.

If the guy is Left handed, why is he carrying the rifle on the right?

“But is there no sense of simple respect due the nation’s elected leader when he ventures forth among the citizenry?”

Eh? Those folks were just pointing out that all the power isn’t concentrated in Washington - as exactly intended by the 2nd Amendment. The poor leftists just can’t stand that they aren’t the only ones with the guns.

“One man strutted through the crowd with an AR-15 semi-automatic assault rifle slung over his shoulder. (That weapon was banned in recent American history until a bipartisan retreat before gun-lobby propaganda.)”

At least the strident and silly anti-gun agenda is clear.

The “propaganda” was the nonsense that got the “assault weapons” banned in the first place. They have many legitimate uses, and are used in a vanishingly small percentage of crimes.

Make mine a 6.5 Grendel, please.

Of course, they missed the fact that NH is a “must issue” CCW state.

It's almost, but not quite, shall-issue. Some anti-gun police chiefs use the "suitable person" wording in the law to try to weasel out of it, even though they've been repeatedly instructed that someone who is not prohibited from possessing firearms meets that criteria.

We have the stubborn commons, but where is our martial nobility? That’s what our founders were. Where are they now?

well let’s look at the math on this shall we. un-armed black man in St Loius protesting death care = getting his ass kick by seiu thugs. Armed black man in Phoenix protesting death care = not getting his ass kicked by seiu thugs

Uh, NY Times pinheads, they were NOT banned. You could not sell them. But outside of California, they were still legal to own.

But is there no sense of simple respect due the nation’s elected leader when he ventures forth among the citizenry?

First of all, he sure as heck doesn't respect US. Second of all, I don't see where the NY Times has shown any concern for the victims of SEIU goons. And third, since such goons are showing up, protesters are in far more potential danger than Obama would be with his Secret Service protection - so it makes sense to show the goons they'd better back off.

That’s because the left sees Obama as a ‘ruler’ and not a ‘leader’.

The NYT is a joke. They exist in one of the small minority of states where it is not legal to carry a gun openly.

It has been widely “reported” that dozens were carrying at the AZ event.

Are there any pictures to prove this. Chris B. (ar15 guy) is the only one I have seen. Why wouldn’t CNN, MSNBC etc have taken video and photos of these other carriers to present a more sinister scene.

ANY PICS out there I have missed, please direct me.

Not for 0bama.

Respect is earned.

0bama's arrogance is one of the most disgusting things I have seen from a politican in my life time.

Of course his stupidity runs a close second to his arrogance.

are there no real men left in New York City?

Is that formally fair city now inhabited by nothing more than vicious metrosexuals?

I would suggest that the editorial board retire to the restroom to scoop out their lace panties.

Yeah, baffling how many people think the “AW ban” actually did so. The only thing banned was ugly cosmetics. If they understood this, they’d be terrified of the response to a real ban.

If they understood this, they’d be terrified of the response to a real ban.

The thing is, most people don't understand, because (at least until very recently) most people get their news from and have their opinions formed by the talking heads on the boob tube, and those heads spew disinformation and are happy to do their best to make sure that most people don't understand all the facts.

Part of the cultural war that is going on right now is because this paradigm is indeed shifting, and the mass media, and the government, no longer have absolute control over what news and what spin is being put out. More and more people are waking up to the fact that they have been manipulated, and they don't like it.

Most of us here have figured this out long ago, and we constantly see that we are often days ahead of most of the news cycle (or that we know things that aren't widely reported), and I am frequently reminded of this when I talk to others in my family. I do my best to get them to dig deeper, to become more aware, but the motivation has to come from inside.

And you're right, of course. They would be terrified of the real response. Many folks, including the ones calling for bans and crying about the peaceful lawful exercise of Constitutional rights, have not though through the consequences of their position being forced on those of us that want no part of it. They have no idea what they are about to unleash.

Re: “Never mind the guy in AZ was an Obama/Health Care supporter.”

Agreed on all points except this one. That isn’t true. He’s a libertarian anti-statist as he clearly articulates in this video.

http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/popup/?rn=3906861&cl=15098903&ch=4226713&src=news

Libertarian firebrand Ernie Hancock helped to organize (or stage as the lapdog media puts it) the appearance of a dozen open carry protestors. Perhaps they were partly inspired by the media frenzy previously at the sight of a holstered gun in New Hampshire. They notified Phoenix PD who assigned a liaison officer to escort/overwatch. That’s one reason why the Obamadroids left him alone. He wasn’t within the Secret Service cordon either, as they would have invoked federal disarmament standards in that case. Obama was never seen near the protest.

Contrary to his comments about open carry in AZ, if Chris went out alone with slung rifle on the sidewalk in Phoenix, the PD likely wouldn’t have been nearly so respectful of lawful open carry. The liberal bedwetters here make charges of disturbing the peace or disorderly conduct an easy form of control and predation on any individual practicing their open carry rights.

Arizona appears to be teetering on becoming a leftist state, as demonstrated by our current Uber Stazi Homlund Zekurity czar and former Klinton appointee Janet Napolitburo who was previously easily elected governor to run the state budget and political climate into the red.

As to the protest, many more were packing concealed, but by carrying openly this was as much an exercise of the first amendment right to assembly and free speech as it was a snub at the gun grabbers. Sadly, many pro-2nd supporters are afraid of how this looks and political backlash.

The purpose wasn’t to sway or intimidate liberals: those kinder submitizens are afraid of toy guns, pictures of guns, and their own straw-men fantasies of knuckle dragging slack-jawed ‘conservatives’. If they only realized what harmless whimps the libertarians generally are.

For a conservative or libertarian trying to look ‘reasonable’ to gun phobes is like a hamburger trying to look like a salad to a vegan. There’s a reason why the Marxist media tried to hide the image of a well dressed peaceable black man armed in public with a sport utility rifle. That image is damaging to their class warfare race baiting tactics. They don’t want the brothers in the hood to see an armed black man not get hassled by the police. They don’t want the feminized public to see that the presence of guns don’t lead to carnage. So they portray conflict where actually there was none. Controversy, yes; conflict, no.

In general you are only likely to get this kind of civility where people can freely carry arms peaceably (this doesn’t include non-peaceable places that libtards use as straw-men such as Somalia or even our crime ridden inner cities). As a matter of tactics for self defense, open carry is generally a bad idea. But as uniformed cops demonstrate daily, the visible presence of the ability to apply countervailing force is a deterrence to mischief and violence. Contrary to The NY Marxist Times, more of us need to Pack Iron (and polymer) Before The Cameras.
