This is part and parcel of the White House strategy on selling health care reform: ask people to put blinders on so that the intended/unintended effects of his health care reforms are ignored.
Case in point: every one with an ounce of intelligence can see that Obama's proposals for reform will include health care for illegal aliens - even though it is not specifically written into any proposed bill. It will simply be the consequence of a government takeover of health care.
Here's Obama yesterday on the Michael Smerconish radio show:
"This has been an example of just pure misinformation out there. None of the bills that have been voted on in Congress, and none of the proposals coming out of the White House propose giving coverage to illegal immigrants - none of them. That has never been on the table; nobody has discussed it. So everybody who is listening out there, when you start hearing that somehow this is all designed to provide health insurance to illegal immigrants, that is simply not true and has never been the case."

"Well, that's not quite a lie because our silver-tongued attorney-in-chief is right that the bills are not "designed to provide health insurance to illegal immigrants," but they will do so nonetheless. As Jim Edwards and Jon Feere demonstrate in some detail, the supposed bar on illegal aliens getting subsidies is inadequate: The bar applies only to one section of the bill; there's no requirement that applicants' eligibility be verified as is the case with other welfare programs, and the Democrats specifically rejected amendments to require verification.

I don't think they require verification in any program any more, they live in HUD subsidized housing all over this country. About 4000 Somalis have been resettled in Georgia since 1992, mostly in Clarkston. I thought it was an interesting avoidance of the word “alien”...which was more fitting than “immigrant”. Immigrant usually means that the guy has come to live here permanently and has some kind of visa....whether temp or permanent.
Then there’s this simplicity of ensuring the public. The White House team can simply write one additional page on top of the 1,000 already written, and say that no non-citizen or immigrant without a permanent visa can have any part of the universal health care package. It would take you and me about four minutes to write such a brief two-paragraph item to insert. Why would he not want to just add that and smile before the cameras?
Thirty years ago....naive folks would have looked over this situation and just figured that political figures were smart enough to do their work. Today....the guys in DC have proven over and over...they are the naive ones...and barely can write an adequate bill.

Obama’s aunt lives in government subsidized housing and has been through all of the deportation proceedings, yet she is still in the country.
Verification of citizenship is required for Medicaid, Medicare, and a host of other federal programs.
Anyway, verification of citizenship is definitely needed to keep illegals from being beneficiaries of this; and the overwhlming majority of Americans - in poll after poll - have said that they don’t want their tax-dollars going to fund Obamacare for illegal aliens.
They came here illegally, and that is a slap in the face to those who came here legally.
The person or persons with the power to deport her probably know better than to even attempt that.
Look at what has happened to Rush Limbaugh, Joe the Plumber, Sarah Palin and anyone else who dares to challenge Obama.

Well, verification of citizenship is not even required for voting. If that is not held sacred, then why would we expect anything else to be?

The reason that Obama and his fellow Democrat goons are using the red heering of “there is no bill that is designed to provide health insurance to illegal immigrants,” is because polls have shown that 70%+ of Americans do not support their tax dollars going to provide health insurance to illegal aliens.
The Dems are trying to back door this for illegals by intentionally trying to keep an amendment out of ObamaCare that would require verification of citizenship.
The elderly would get pushed to the side and to the back of the line, and illegals would get their health care.
