In the midst of ear-splitting explosions, the Iraqi coalition originally forged between 38 countries has dwindled to one, a coalition of one – the U.S.A. With most of the media attention focused on health-care reform and the sky-rocketing U.S. deficit, little attention was paid to Iraq as the last of the 2003 coalition members withdrew, leaving the Americans to go it alone.
The U.S., as the leader of Multi-National Force, maintains roughly the same level of troop strength in Iraq as when President Obama took office. Mr. Obama campaigned aggressively on a pledge to bring the American troops home, however many of the troops who did leave Iraq were sent to participate in Obama’s Afghanistan surge, which by all reports is not going well for the Americans and coalition troops there.

After the departure of British, Romanian and Australian troops last month, the remaining 130,000-odd American troops are now the only foreign force in MNF-I. Meanwhile, violence has sharply escalated in the war-torn country since President Bush ordered a surge that brought relative calm and a plummeting death toll for all factions.
As quietly as the coalition left the Americans alone in Iraq, President Obama ordered a surge in Afghanistan just after taking office. Unfortunately, it failed to stop the Taliban from regrouping and now Obama is quietly building on the last surge, sending thousands more troops into Afghanistan.
Public support for the Afghan war has tanked under Obama, and despite his pledge to bring the troops home from Iraq, 130.000 American military personnel are hunkered down in that country while the Pentagon contemplates the need for tens of thousands more in Afghanistan.

Other countries realize that Obama will stab them in the back the first chance he gets.
It’s an old joke. A “Multinational Division” consists of one division of US soldiers, plus 1 “liaison” each from 150 other countries.

That just about says it all in a nutshell doesn’t it? Now I’m going to join the kook fringe during Bush’s tenure: Bring our Troops home! I don’t want them serving under this Marxist bastard!
History is chock full of nations and individuals who stood alone when it really counted. One of the qualities that has made America stand apart from the rest of the world has always been her willingness to go it alone when the chips were down. Sure, it’s great having others there to share the burden, but the true test of grit is how you respond when you know something is right but no one else wants to help, or even support you.
IMHO, our biggest fault is that we refuse to go all out and defeat an enemy for fear of what the rest of the world will say. No telling how many brave American fighting men and women have lost their lives or been seriously wounded because we lack the political will to deal with an enemy in the quickest and most effective manner. We end up having to use the tactics frowned upon early on in a conflict sooner or later and all we gain from delay is an increased casualty count.
If a war is worth fighting then it’s worth winning and doing anything less than whatever it takes to win as quickly as possible is just plain wrong.
And I would start with Iran. Tell the dissidents they have X number of days to get rid of the current rulers or we’ll do it for them. Make certain they, and the ruling class, understand that as messy as overthrowing the government there is going to be it’s a whole lot less catastrophic than making us, or Israel, do it. Sadly, it will take that kind of notice, warning and follow through to overcome our reputation around the world lately of being a paper tiger.
Iraq is a quagmire. It has been a quagmire for 2000 years. We have no money to spend on them any more. Afghanistan is becoming Obama’s war and is not worth our tax dollars. NO MORE NATION BUILDING!!. Come home and rebuild this nation quick before we go down the tube.

Uhhhhhh....didn’t the newsholes make a big deal about Ubama removing troops from Iraq just a few short weeks ago?
agreed.
They have to come up with a way to stop Iran and Syria from providing material support and a base of operations to the terrorist. We have to make them pay a price for their involvement in the deaths of American soldiers. How long can we go on pretending that this isn’t happening? The war on terror is turning into another war we don’t fight to win.

It’s always been one, with a few friends to help. Even those countries, except for maybe Australia, keep a smaller military because they sleep under the blanket of US protection. That way they have more money for their Socialist programs. When we run out of money, many of these countries are going to face hard decisions.
Thanks to Dr. Manning, I now know the meaning of “Mack Daddy”: and for those who were as ignorant as I, it means a sharp dressing, Pimp in Black neighborhoods.
If US troops are fully removed Iran and Syria will fill the void quickly, very quickly.
