“I remember the Chevy/Toyota Nova that came out of that plant when it first opened”.
...in ‘72 or ‘74 they came out with the “Super Nova”! I remember in 2nd grade having to write about myself and I said I was saving for one. The teacher read it out loud and I got snickers from the kids. I was never sure if it was because I wanted a POS Nova or because I was 7?!
i see
thought i read that somewhere about union being more of a presence there but i may be mistaken
at any rate as you say So Long CA
Coming soon from VW: the 2010 Schadenfreude!
Well, well...it looks like Pelosi and her cohorts Feinstein and Boxer failed in their brazen attempt to bribe Toyota to stay with stimulus money. Time for a celebration in San Antonio!
That was the Toyota part.
More than a few owners were inconvenienced by the Chevrolet parts.
That car did actually appear to be built by two completely separate manufacturers. Weren’t the doorlocks on the front doors completely different from the rear?
actually the cars differed only by some trim, logos, and small details:

The company I work for is looking to get out of CA. The cost of doing business is 3 to 4 times HIGHER than it is in the mid-atlantic corridor(Baltimore, Philly, NYC).
Not in my car. But it did look like a Corolla with a Nova nameplate slapped on.
I know that.
I was talking about the doors on the same car.
The front doors had one style of locks and the back doors had something that was completely different.
Didn’t matter what the badge was.
That's the current word I have as well. Toyota has taken it the short with opening that plant during the last gas price run up. Producing both vehicles will soften the blow.
It's a tough day here at NUMMI. Although, I can tell that Toyota wants to take care of the people here as best they can. There will be production for 7 more months along with incentives and training and placement opportunities.
I wouldn’t buy a Corolla or Tacoma made there now. They’ll be booby-trapped out of spite.
I might buy one (Tacoma) that’s already sitting on a lot somewhere. I was looking at them until I found out they were UAW made. Now I’m thinking it wouldn’t hurt.
Actually I like it. The plant closing will mean a huge loss of revenue for the state, and most of the workers vote Democrat anyway.

Toyota makes a reliable vehicle. My NUMMI (I know UAW) made Corolla worked very well. I just don’t trust unions when they’re cornered. They do things out of spite.
Texas has a pro-business stance and no state income tax. This will be another boost to the Texas economy.
Unemployment rate in Pelosi’s California is 11.9%
Unemployment rate in Texas has increased from 6% to 7.9% as people are streaming into the State looking for work. Many are from California.
This move could create up to 50,000 jobs in the San Antonio area which should help the refugees from Pelosi’s California that are looking for work.
