Pal: Dying Kennedy spoke of reuniting with JFK, RFK -- Saw Obama carrying on family’s legacy
Boston Herald ^ | August 29, 2009 | Hillary Chalbot

U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy went to his deathbed looking forward to a reunion with his assassinated brothers - certain he could proudly tell them he had continued their legacy through the president who will deliver his eulogy today, U.S. Rep. William Delahunt told the Herald yesterday.

In a dramatic conversation with Delahunt, the ailing Kennedy “talked about a reunion with his brothers, and I’m confident he could say, ‘I did it. I carried the torch,’ ” said Delahunt. “From Jack to Bobby to the Obama moment, Teddy really was the bridge. He carried the torch and never wavered.”

The conversation is a rare glimpse inside Kennedy’s thoughts as he made peace with his life and prepared for his passing.

The dramatic and deeply personal presidential eulogy expected today at Kennedy’s Mass on Mission Hill speaks to the close bond that developed between Obama and Kennedy after the senior senator made his unexpected endorsement in January 2008.

“(Kennedy) saw in (Obama) much of himself. He knew there was something special in this individual,” said Delahunt, another early Obama supporter.

The endorsement was as much of a surprise to Obama as it was to anyone else, said longtime Kennedy friend Phil Johnston.

“I think for Obama it was a transformative moment on the campaign,” said Johnston. “I’m certain it infused the Obama camp with tremendous energy and enthusiasm, and as long as Barack Obama lives he’ll feel he owes a great debt to Ted Kennedy.”

Teddy just didn't want to go down as the Black Sheep of the Family, so he just passed it on.

Ok, I had to get up and walk away from my computer, and make myself 'think' about what to respond because your words 'tempted' me to say something unflattering about the dead. All this chattering about hoping and praying that old Teddy had a 'deathbed' conversion is way above my skills and my business. Whether or not he confessed and repented of his ways are sure not brought forth in this chattering of his friend. Only the Heavenly Father and Teddy are privy to that conversation.

However, I am thankful that from this point forward we can point out to liberalville that opposition to Bama is NOT race based but Kennedy Family based.

Considering it was Chicago Mayor Daley's stealing of votes for JFK that gave him the margin needed to become president, it seems appropriate for the other “bookend” to the Kennedys’ political reign to be a corrupt community organizer and product of Chicago machine politics.

It has been said that Senator Kennedy often joked about Chappaquiddick.

U.S. Rep. William Delahunt told the Herald yesterday...

Delahunt is the guy who conspired with the idiot Hugo Chavez to put together the anti-American "oil for poor people" propaganda ploy... It takes a commie to know a commie...

I think he had his audience with Jesus and probably had a rather stark awakening about what he has done with his life. He might be reunited with JKF and RFK, but he’ll also be reunited with rest of the worst humanity had to offer and all under the leadership of Lucifer.

Kennedy only endorsed Obama because he wanted to piss off the Clintons and stop them doing what his family couldnt, get 2 Presidents. He wanted make sure the Kennedy’s remained the premier Democratic Dynasty.

So he stuck us with Obama because of his petty jealousy, thanks a lot. May you burn in hell.

On the other hand, Teddy undermined Jimmy Carter’s reelection bid, which gave us eight years of Reagan, so at least that offsets that a little bit.

The temporary wearing of a neck brace won’t help in the Highest Court where we will all be judged. Unless I read Jesus’ teachings wrong, getting to Heaven isn’t just a matter of “hey, no matter what I’ve done in life or believed in, here’s my ticket for the Paradise Express.” We all have to have belief (in my view either in faith or a life that reflects Judeo-Christian values), repent of our sins, and acknowledge our many errors and transgressions that have hurt others and contravened God’s laws. In his case, among others, I assume he has an explanation for being a leading advocate for both unrestricted abortion and the public funding of abortions, both in the US and worldwide that prevented the lives in being of millions of the unborn.

The outpouring oozing political opportunism is palpably disgusting.

These people don’t give a rats *ss about kenedy, they just want to use the dead body as a stepping stone to elevate themselves.

The democrats are going to eat themselves alive.

The insiders are going to demand an appointment.
The carpet baggers will demand an election.

The republicans will be sitting there being the stupid party.

Well, actually, anyone who is in heaven is perfectly holy and they don’t laugh when the damned are cast into hell.

They may see and love the justice of it all but it would be a pure love of justice, not laughing. Perhaps that’s what you meant.

But those in hell probably do laugh at the newcomers. To laugh at someone else’s damnation is unrighteous and suggests that the laugher is himself headed for hell unless he repents.

Self-righteousness is bad stuff.

had Kennedy supported Clinton, the dems would have gone with Clinton and at least we wouldnt have had that traitorous pos sitting in the WH. Hillary I could have lived with but Obama.............., I’d rather take 2 Bill Clintons, a hillary and a Carter rolled into one before having THAT chicago, kenyan, hawaiian, kasanian or whatever place he’s from this week, stuffed in my face
