Patriarch Bob Schindler has passed away

jillstanek.com

Jill Stanek

I just received the sad new from Schindler family friend Bro. Paul O'Donnell that family patriarch Bob Schindler passed away early this morning in a FL hospital.

Bob was 72 years old and died of heart failure. His health had been deteriorating somewhat, but his death was still unexpected. He was admitted to the hospital only yesterday complaining of shortness of breath.

I'm so sad for this dear family, who has endured so much. Bro. Paul told me Bob was never quite the same after Terri was killed by denial of hydration and nutrition on March 31, 2005.

Bob's funeral is tentatively scheduled for Friday, September 4, in the Philadelphia area. Details to follow.

Please join me in praying for the Schindler family's comfort and peace at this tragic time. I know the family is very close, and Bob's death will devastate them.

Sadly, I think you're right, wagglebee...

It was a test to see what we would allow.

There were some arrests...

..just like there have been 'some' arrests all through the years when good, God fearing folks valued life over convenience...(& I'm talking peaceful dissent like sit-ins at abortion clinics....not violence!)

Years ago, thousands and thousands were arrested...

..but they were charged with RICO and had the book thrown at them...

..it scared them...

..and now, here we are.

There were some arrests...

Yep, when possession of FOOD AND WATER is declared a crime, a lot of people turn to crime.

Unlike Ted Kennedy, Bob Schindler (and the rest of his family) NEVER wavered from pro-life devout Catholicism.

Very sad that this dear man no longer walks this earth. My prayers have never stopped for Terri and for her family. They continue for the repose of the souls of Terri and Bob, and for their family to find comfort and solace through their abiding faith.

I certainly pray for the Schindler famiy, they really showed us what ‘family’ means. May they find comfort in knowing their husband/father is in the arms of his Lord and reunited with his beloved daughter.

And as EV reminded us elsewhere, Mr. Schindler never failed
to encourage Terri’s supporters, even in his darkest hours.

He was a dear, dear soul.

Terri was so blessed to have had a dad who loved her
beyond measure.

I thought the funeral was going to be in Philly, is South Hampton, NJ in the Philly area?

Statement from Bobby Schindler Regarding the Death of His Father, Robert Schindler

I am heartbroken over the loss of my father and yet I know at this moment he is rejoicing with my sister, Terri. My dad was a man of integrity, character and compassion who was blessed with a close and loving family. He taught all three of his children to respect and value life and to love our fellow man.

Even at the height of the battle to save my sister Terri’s life, when his patience and temperance was near exhaustion, he managed to display a gentleness of spirit. Yet it was his unfathomable strength that allowed him to shoulder up his own heartache and lead us through our darkest hour.

What greater legacy could a man leave behind?

After a memorial service for Terri, I saw Bob outside, giving comfort and encouragement to many people who had come. Mostly, he shared his strength with the disabled people and their caregivers. He was visibly thrilled whenever he saw disabled people being loved, cared for, and included in people’s lives. He seemed to feel privileged just to meet them. The Schindler family stayed for a long time after the service, giving of themselves. I was (and still am) awestruck by the level of grace they displayed.

I saw the same.

I’m not one to put any man up on a pedestal. But I can say with no reservation, as I have many times, that Bob Schindler was a great man, in the Christian sense. In other words, he had a humble servant’s heart.
