KENNEDY'S FREE PASS WITH WOMEN: WHY DID SO MANY DISMISS HIS CRIMES?
NY Post ^ | August 30, 2009 | MAUREEN CALLAHAN

In all the obits published and specials aired this week, Chappaquiddick gets a few paragraphs, a few minutes, a tidy recapping of the events of July 19, 1969: The married Ted Kennedy, driving late at night with young campaign aide Mary Jo Kopechne, pitches off a bridge and into the water below. He escapes; she drowns. He does not report the accident for 10 hours. He pleads guilty and gets a suspended sentence, two months in jail.

In most of these narratives, Chappaquiddick is told as Ted's tragedy, the thing that kept him from ever becoming president. And in these narratives, he is chastened, goes on to make amends through a life of public service, advocating for the disadvantaged and the downtrodden -- and, especially, women. No one's perfect, right?

But how is it that so many women unabashedly revere Kennedy today? The particulars of Chappaquiddick are especially gory; his behavior after the accident approaches the amoral. Once he broke free and swam to the surface, Kennedy said that he dove back down seven or eight times to rescue Kopechne. Failing, he swam back to shore and checked back into his hotel, and a short time later lodged a noise complaint with the desk clerk. The people in the room next to his were partying and it was interfering with his sleep. Then he asked the desk clerk for the time.

According to the Aug. 4, 1969 edition of Newsweek, that clerk, Russell E. Peachey, told Kennedy it was 2:25 a.m., then asked, "Is there anything else I can do for you?"

"No, thank you," Kennedy replied.

They dismissed Clinton’s too. These “feminists” think that a right to kill their own babies is more important than expecting a man to treat a woman with common decency.

You’re absolutely right. Abortion is the key to understanding a lot of the strange positions and policies of the left.

[Gloria Feldt said:] "But I don't know that you can reconcile it -- when it's in a group's best interest that said person stays in that chair, how do you weigh that moral equation? I wish it were simpler than that."

If your "group's" champion treats all women as sluts, maybe that suggests that your group's agenda really isn't good for women (unless they're sluts).

I believe you’re on to something here: expediency is the name of the game.

That he called the front desk to complain and ask the time was all a part of his ‘plan A’ to establish some sort of alibi. Yeah, like he was really going to try to sleep.

I wouldn’t even treat a slut that bad! Kennedy had to be some kind of woman-hater in his heart.

OK, question: given that Kennedy was such an abortion-monger, how could the Catholic Church possibly justify giving him a Catholic burial? Yes, I’m sure money is part of it. But I have heard no rationalization for the move.

In burying Ted, the Church seemed to be giving its stamp of approval to a life that was an embarassment to Catholics.

“I wish it were simpler than that.” {said Gloria Felt of Planned Parenthood]

It IS simpler than that, Gloria, and you know it. Ted Kennedy was a Democrat, that is all you need to know.

The dems NEVER throw their own under the bus, no matter how much they deserve to be there. The media never hounds the dems out of office, not matter how much they deserve to go.

I’d draw the line at supporting a unrepentent killer like Teddy the K. But short of that I wonder if our own side should not adopt this approach.

Something that I will say about Ted that I did not know, he was a college football star, that means that besides wealth and power he was also a manly man.

When you have a guy that pro football tried to draft, that is also rich, a Kennedy, and a powerful man that is even a military vet, that had a enough charisma to fill his own shoes for 50 years, did you really think that women may not like him?

That reminds me. Ted Kennedy was also a celebrity with a sympathetic press, women did not have a chance.

Correction: how could the Archdiocese of Boston possibly justify giving him a Catholic burial?

99.82% of the Church exists outside the cesspool known as the Archdiocese of Boston. If you're going to blame the entire Church for that circus in Boston then you're the one I'm blaming for the election of Obowma.

That’s something I wonder about myself. However, since I am not a Catholic, I can’t answer the question.

Actually she suffocated and supposedly took hours for her to do that. Had he gone to a nearby house and called, the diver who retrieved her body claimed she could have been saved.

But how is it that so many women unabashedly revere Kennedy today?

I am a woman so I can and will explain it as I see it.

Women are stupid. They love to play the victim. They don't take responsibility for their behavior (victim is more romantic, I guess). Some cry rape... when in fact it's morning after regrets because the bozo they did the deed with doesn't have any intention of a continuing relationship. And, the women should not send signals they cannot back up with action. Mom never told them that an invitation to the guy's apartment normally means the guy is asking for sex. (My daughter has never been a victim)

So, they get an abortion if they make a mistake. Then, they most likely will get breast cancer (early term abortion documented in 1986 - AMA) or cervical cancer because of their promiscuity.

Bottom line most women do not have any common sense as evidenced by liberal women.

Since you are a Catholic it would sure be nice if you would contribute an insiders view rather than not contributing anything useful, we are conservative political people trying to analyze public events.

Scanian, it is not known whether Kennedy made a death-bed confession which involved TRUE repentance, and since Confession binds the priest to total privacy as to what took place in the Confession, the church has no way to know if a Catholic burial should be denied.

I should add that the priest is merely a representative of God in the confessional, and only God knows if the repentant is truthful. Therefor, the absolution given by the priest is always conditional on God’s knowledge of the sinner’s sincerity. We’ll just have to wait until the final judgment to find out. In the meantime, the church gives the benefit of the doubt to the deceased.
