Despite the confusing names of the major Japanese parties, the Liberal-Democratic Party which lost is the Japanese equivalent of Republicans and the Democratic Party that won is the Japanese equivalent of the Democratic Party in the US.

So...what you are REALLY trying to say is, their entire government pretty much sucks like ours too?

Japanese RINO equivalents just got replaced by Japanese Pelosi-Reid type democratic socialists. Give it a couple of years, then Japanese Tea Parties might arise.

Are you really opposed to free market-capitalism economic principles?

How liberal doesn't matter as much as:

1. They are hostile toward America
2. They want to dump US debt
3. THEY ARE FRIENDLY TOWARD THE CHICOMS
4. They favor an Asian-currency “basket” based on the Yen and Yuan as the core

All of this, if it comes to pass, spells doom for the US dollar. If the two nations are able to ally, then we have also lost our influence and most democracy in the entire Pacific Rim.

This is really, really bad news for us.

And we have no one to blame but the socialists/communists that are running this country into the ground with their debt-based economic theory (which Bush contributed to, but which the current communists are running with full-speed).

I lived in Japan the only other time in postwar history that it didn't have an LDP Prime Minister.

The PM was from the socialist party and led a very weak anti-LDP coalition. His name was Murayama and all I can seem to remember about him is that he was a naive nice guy and had bushy eyebrows. He didn't last very long. Think of BO with the platitudes and without the racism or meglomania. Or Joe Biden without the gaffes. Or, better yet, Walter Chronkite without the idealogical agenda.

I agree with you in principle, but this is going to create economic catastrophe.

We no longer have the manufacturing base we need in order to “produce” our way out.

Our labor force is being co-opted by tyrants in various unions.

We no longer have good credit standing, so that we cannot “borrow” our way out of this.

The value and faith of the dollar has been teetering on the edge of a cliff for a year now. This pushes us over the cliff.

If this had happened four years ago or further back, I'd say, yes, stick it to us, it's what we deserve and its a bitter medicine that we need.

But I fear this is another step fulfilled in my prediction that what this current administration of communists is intending to do is to destroy the US dollar, destroy faith in the dollar, destroy faith in the markets, destroy faith in capitalism, destroy the value of all our assets (including our monetary savings, 401Ks, IRAs, etc.) until the American people scream and demand that we dump the US dollar in favor of a new global currency and that we give up our free-market system to have our economy run by a global, economic ministry.

Nobody but NOBODY would do what the Commie-in-Chief and his commie thugs have been doing with the hope of improving the economy. What they are doing is passing bills to give monetary handouts to their supporters while those dollars still have some value and helping Goldman-Sachs recoup their losses before the economy and our lives as we have known them completely collapse.

“Japanese RINO equivalents just got replaced by Japanese Pelosi-Reid type democratic socialists.”

Exactly correct. The RINOs of Japan did exactly what the RINOs of the US did. Adopted the leftist socialist philosophy in order to retain power while leading the nation to ruin. Their national debt, as is ours, is overwhelming and the LDP much like the GOP has only themselves to blame for the “throw the bums out” attitude of the Japanese people. It is so sad that the peoples of the US and Japan are given only the choice of slow track socialism or fast track socialism

May be friendly towards China, but is China any less bent on eating them for lunch?

That’s a good question. They can be diplomatic and talk about working together, but reality may be quite different. And typically the Japanese people and the Chinese people are very rooted in tradition.

But I don’t doubt that the ChiComs would use the Japanese to form a joint control over the Pacific Rim and then dump them to be king of the hill.
