Despite their control of all three branches of government, this has not been a good summer for liberal Democrats. Their healthcare reform bill, which has yet to be fully written, much less fully funded, has been exposed at town hall meetings as a power grab over life and death with the strong possibility that do no harm will be replaced by a utilitarian approach to treatment.
The cap-and-trade measure (dubbed cap and tax by The Wall Street Journal) appears in trouble. Closer scrutiny has revealed it as one more reach into our pockets by politicians who never have enough of our money.
As the first elections since President Obamas presidential victory approach, liberals are getting nervous that all this exposure is leaving them naked before an increasingly skeptical and angry public. The latest Rasmussen poll shows President Obamas approval rating has dropped to 46 percent, which, according to The Wall Street Journal, demonstrates a substantial drop in presidential approval relative to other elected presidents in the 20th and 21st centuries.
The Washington Post is trying to provide life support for at least one Democrat who is in trouble. In a gift for the Democratic candidate for governor of Virginia, Creigh Deeds, the Post ran a front-page story above the fold last Sunday trumpeting its discovery of a 20-year-old thesis written by the Republican candidate, Bob McDonnell. In that thesis, McDonnell was critical of fornicators, those who have abortions, and parentsespecially employed womenwho dont spend enough time with their children.
So that late-summer vacationers might get the point, the Post ran a follow-up story on Tuesdayagain front pageabout the uproar created (by the Post) over the thesis. It was accompanied by an editorial critical of McDonnells views. But on June 11, a Post editorial said, Democrats . . . will try to depict former attorney general Robert F. McDonnell . . . as a right-wing zealot and Pat Robertson protégé. In fact, both candidates are serious public servants with long records that deserve more careful examination. . . . Mr. McDonnells tenure as attorney general, by most accounts, has been professional and not overtly ideological.
McDonnell now says that while remaining conservative on most issues, he has changed some of his views over the last two decades.
If the Post is so concerned about the fitness of McDonnell for governor because of what he wrote in a single thesis, why hasnt it been similarly aggressive in rooting out Barack Obamas records from Occidental College, Columbia University, and Harvard? And does anyoneespecially McDonnells opponentwant to run on a pro-fornication platform? Even President Obama has said he wants to reduce the number of abortions in America. And who thinks parents spend too much time with their children?
Here is the way I believe it works at liberal universities. Some professors require their students to repeat back to them on test papers and in theses what the professors believe. Unless students hate Republicans, revile George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan, renounce God, support abortion and gay rights, they can sometimes expect a lower, even a failing grade. When my wife studied for her masters degree in counseling, she felt pressured to repeat her professors beliefs instead of stating her own. A friend with a Ph.D. told her, Write what they want and get the degree. Then you can counsel the way you like. This is academic freedom? It sounds like indoctrination. Why is it OK at liberal universities to tell professors what they want to hear, but not OK at conservative ones to do the same?
The left is worried not only about the Virginia governors race, but also the contest in New Jersey, where incumbent Gov. Jon Corzine is 10 points behind Republican challenger Chris Christie, according to a recent Quinnipiac University poll. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid isnt up for re-election until next year, but he already trails his likely opponent, Danny Tarkanian, by 11 points.
For growing numbers of people, the elections in Virginia and New Jersey cant come quickly enough and November 2010 is a date being circled in red on many calendars.
I always thought this was an untenable position to hold.
Why would you want to reduce the number unless you thought the act was wrong?
Video Regarding Exeter, NH Town Hall Meeting... Speaking From the Heart Against Obamacare.
Here is a Youtube video of the event of August 31 where Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta spoke at an Exeter, NH town hall meeting in Exeter that you may not have seen and may want to view and forward to others involved in the battle against Obama Death care entitled:
...constituent speaks from the heart (about Obamacare)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRzlLa48Wps
I spoke shortly after the retired police man from NYC who was ejected the day before by Carol Shea Porter. There were paid activist (possibly union) thugs outside the hall dressed in SCREAM masks and gowns screaming "Stop Republican Scare Tactics". Needless to say, I let them, congress and Obama have it with both barrels.
I find it hard to believe that there are many states where the American people are truly disenchanted with Obama. Does anyone know of such a state that voted for him that is now in denial? Could it be VA? TGhe people are still hoping to get that proverbial check “in the mail”.
We can expect more of these brown shirt tactics from liberal thugs as elections draw nearer. Be ready for them.
The real difference is in the squishy middle. 0’s base of ~30% of the electorate would follow him through the gates of hell. The middle is slowly awakening to the true Marxist ideology of this administration, and they don’t like it. Nor do they like the fact that they were played for suckers.
This will be the tactic for 2010 and 2012. The Democrats will not run on their record. They will try every dirty trick in the book to win the elections (vote fraud, voter intimidation, character assasination, blackmail). You name it, the full arsenal will be out. I pray it backfires on them big time.
They haven’t even begun to face the wrath of the silent majority.
They are nervous as the people of America are finding out they were duped.
Does Cal mean the House, Senate, White house as the three branches? I don't think the Supreme Court is considered to be demonrat. Yet.
We need to get American In Tokoyos findings about Van Jones to the Average Joe...Glenn Beck is working on it.
I wish Drudge would put something up on it with the various quotes. They are outrageous.
Only a rat would see a problem with this.
“Why would you want to reduce the number unless you thought the act was wrong?”
Answer: Obama speaks Alinsky, speak in terms the listener is in agreement with and confortable with, but do the opposite.
They think it's wrong, but it's also wrong to tell an individual not to have one, since it's their body and as a matter of civil rights no outsider should interfere with a person's right to do what they want with their own body...
Which is why they also favor euthanasia and legalizing marijuana. (But they do seem to hate tobacco and they're not too crazy about alchohol. So go figure.)
Its all about race. He's not against abortion, he's against aborting blacks. IIRC, 30 of the last 50 million abortions have been blacks, he want those 30 million votes...(Not that ACORN isn't casting them, but I digress)
We must stop them.
Everyone Must Do Something Everyday.
In February 2004, US Senate candidate Barack Obama's wife, Michelle, sent a fund-raising letter with the "alarming news" that "right-wing politicians" had passed a law against p/b abortion (prohibiting doctors from stabbing half-born babies in the neck with scissors, suctioning out their brains and crushing their skulls).
Michelle Obama called partial-birth abortion "a legitimate medical procedure. " She urged supporters to pay $150 to attend a fund-raising luncheon for her husband, who she promised would fight against "cynical ploy[s]" to stop it.
BACKGROUND Legislation was presented on the federal level and in various states called the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. It stated all live-born babies were guaranteed the same constitutional right to equal protection, whether or not they were wanted. BAIPA sailed through the U.S. Senate by unanimous vote. Even Sens. Clinton, Kennedy and Kerry agreed a mother's right to "choose" stopped at her baby's delivery. The bill also passed overwhelmingly in the House. NARAL went neutral on it. Abortion enthusiasts publicly agreed that fighting BAIPA would appear extreme. President Bush signed BAIPA into law in 2002.
But in Illinois, the state version of BAIPA repeatedly failed, thanks in large part to then-state Sen. Barack Obama. Obama worried aloud that legislation protecting live aborted babies might infringe on "women's rights" or "abortionists' rights."
In 2003, as chairman of the next Senate committee to which BAIPA was sent, Obama stopped it from even getting a hearing, shelving it to die much like babies were still being shelved to die in Illinois hospitals and abortion clinics.
BAIPA passed in 2005.........after Obama left.
Funny how the media can find a 20 year old ‘thesis’ of this candidate, and have no interest in finding any of the school records, thesis, written papers, pasport records or even the BIRTH CERTIFICATE of the President they are so much in love with.
When will the Media figue out that they have hitched their wagon to the “star” called Obama, and when the super nova implosion comes, they will implode, also?
Maybe Charlie Gibson knows more than he is letting on—he is getting out before the bloodbath at the polls in Nov of 2010.
I suspect that Obama will manufacture a crisis that will necessarily require him to institute Martial Law and suspend the elections altogether. Don’t put ANYTHING past this power drunk thug. CO
