You have summed up the inner-city problem quite succinctly.

Posted to the CW2 group, to raise awareness of the dangers of "flash mob" behavior. Be aware that your perfectly legal small "tea party" or similar gathering could be swarmed by violent criminals called over by "community organizers" in a matter of moments.

Good point.

What does KFC have to do with anything, or are you trying to make some kind of “stereotype” joke?

Most of this “mob” lived in West or North Philly.

Not to excuse the criminals but stopping to watch a riot isn't at all a good idea.

Definitely it's bad tactics to stop if your only defense against attack is mobility.

Of course in his mind there wasn't a perceived threat (until it was too late).

Even in my Karate class they tell you about adopting a pro-active mindset. General awareness at all times of your surroundings and leaving the area at the first sign of trouble.

Bet he didn't know of the color code of awareness either (In general as I understand the concept: White = Totally clueless, Yellow = General awareness and looking out for signs of trouble, Orange = focused on a specific threat and deciding what to do about it, Red = you are running away or fighting).

Citizens today have to start thinking tactical.

Do the rest of my posts on this thread look like jokes to you?

...Gut feelings should not be ignored. Trusting my instincts once got me out of a bank (through a back door, the closest exit from my spot in line) about 90 seconds before three crooks pulled out guns and robbed the place. There was no apparent reason for me to leave, but as soon as the hair went up on the back of my neck, I was gone...

Wow! Can I hang around with you?

Seriously, good job on acting on your instincts instead of ignoring them and possibly looking silly leaving the line for no good reason.

Why some people get those instincts is currently unexplainable (theories are guardian angel, ESP, sensing something and processing the info in a part of the brain which is subconscious, etc.) but hearing of those kinds of experiences is a powerful testimony not to ignore your feelings.

Also it's interesting to note that apparently you have to act on your instincts immediately or almost immediately as soon as they come on or you lose your advantage...

“I know if I am in a car being attacked I will close my eyes and hit the gas pedal!”

It is hard to aim your vehicle correctly if your eyes are closed.

I agree that's it's best to keep eyes open, so as to not lose control of the vehicle and possibly hit a post or another vehicle and come to a stop, for instance. Maybe look just over the hood in general if you don't want to see the faces of the savages attacking you (I assume that is the reason for wanting to close their eyes).

Then later make no statements until you talk with an attorney, and he/she will advise you what to say.

Another term for this is situational awareness. If the situation you are in looks bad, most likely it is. Always have an escape route/plan. The purpose of a CCW is for self defense or if you are in fear of your life. That keeps you out of legal trouble. Best plan is to avoid area that will put yourself in an ugly situation in the first place.

Good points.

However, for anyone who carries a gun, you always have to be in a mental awareness state of at least condition Yellow.
That means if someone approaches you, you notice it and have a plan for if they grab you.

Once you are attacked you have very limited options. So you’re at that time going with the least bad of several bad outcomes.

I do beieve that off duty police officers (a comparison I refer to as they are authorized to use deadly force and well trained but also without their radio and body armor (most likely) most like an ordinary armed citizen) are taught to always fight back if attacked and go down fighting if necessary.

Soldiers are taught not to surrender as long as you have the means to resist. Being outnumbered just means that you try to take out as many of your attackers as you can before you get taken out yourself.

Even the “perfect” outcome of pulling out a gun and hitting some of the attackers who then all run away still is going to mean a trial where their side of the story is that they were minding their own business and you started shooting at them...

Still, I’d rather fight back.

hmf....not really....was just taken aback by the “KFC-Territory” reference. If I jumped the gun on that, sorry.

Oh, and yes..matter of fact, this bicyclist was found in the KFC driveway. At the same time, in the same intersection, the rioters attacked a car containing 2 persons, beat the male pretty badly, roughed up the female, and stole her purse and other items.

Thank you for your long post stepping me through the scenario. It isn't enough to be armed; you also have to have the total awareness training and know what steps to follow, and be ready to take a thug's life rather than waste your life to a thug.

How many guesses that Mr. Bicycle will be getting some target practice when he recovers? I hope he doesn't have a brain injury.

What a terrible shame, all the way around. Thanks for your reply.

Well Yes, I probably would have to peak a little to see where I’m driving, but I would just have to disregard anyone in the way and just plow thought without stopping in fear of the car being stalled or possibly overcomed!
