President Obama wants everyone to believe that American health care is in a crisis, and he wants everyone to be willing to sacrifice in order to solve that crisis...
President Obama wants everyone to sacrifice. Well, not quite everyone.
There is one group that President Obama doesn't mention, one group he doesn't demand sacrifice for the greater good.
President Obama is protecting the plaintiffs' lawyers who sue doctors, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies and reap billions in fees from the tort lottery...
(Excerpt) Read more at townhall.com ...
I´ve heard the medical doctors now are suggesting we do SOCIALIZED lawyers, and put them on the gov´t dole...see if they´ll like it.
now this is to the point. there is no way we can afford any reform by congress.....our grandchildren will be dealing with the mess they have made....in fact we need to convince them to un do some of the damage they have done....they are supposed to be working for us not against us.
we already do- Public Defenders.
63% of congress are attorneys, and they want to do what? You don’ have to be a genius, to figure out that the trial attorneys get favorable decisions via Congress. TOO MANY ATTORNEYS IN CONGRESS!
The author is either a nut or a liar.

Read the article. Do the math. Yeah, lawyers bring home “billions.” About $2 billion (40% $4.5 billion). Assume 1/4 of that is “frivolous” which is way beyond all estimates.
Greedy lawyers would net $500 million in 2008. United Health Care CEO alone made $200 million in 2008. Greedy doctors/health care providers cost medicare alone about $60 billion.
Oh yeah, and before any of you guys do the “defensive medicine” costs thing, please go to the “gawande” link inside the link above. Read what Dr.Gawande had to say about defensive medicine.
parsy, who will keep trying to drive stakes in the tort reform myth.
Tort reform can and should be done first, NOW and separately. There is no complex entwining and threaded set of current legislation that has to be taken into account. It can and SHOULD be done in a SEPARATE, PRISTINE manner that ALL of us can read, even the Congressmen voting on it! (Imagine that!) It will lower the cost of health care by 100-200BILLION dollars.
I realize that some other things could be done too. I, as a NYStater, would be very happy if Congress would pass legislation affirming the Commerce Clause of the Constitution to allow the interstate activity of me buying insurance that the Wisconsin legislature has deemed sufficient.
However after that I would have no objection,
IF the Congress wishes to work on creating a pilot HealthCare program which MANDATES that ALL Congress be enrolled in FOR LIFE, all federal retirees, and ALL Federal employees be enrolled in while they are employed.
Lets see how well they can design something that they and their union and non-union buddies are required to purchase. Maybe they would even decide it is worth their time to read the bill. In such a public program, ANY other American would be allowed to VOLUNTARILY enroll in that program at any time with the same premium schedule. However, since they are not federal employees, they would be free to change out of it annually. In addition if that program EVER runs a deficit, premiums would be IMMEDIATELY be increased to cover the cost, or benefits must IMMEDIATELY be cut. It can NOT run deficits.
Lets see how what type of money saving, excellent, desirable, keep doctor, public, coop, competitive health care program that they design for themselves and their minions first.
PROVE IT FIRST, CONGRESS! Gain our trust this way!
If you build it, and prove it, we will come, and willingly.
I’m still in favor of just rounding up lawyers and shooting them in the name of public peace.
You can’t have a civilization without lawyers. Lawyers are kinda like women. They may get on your nerves, but they are necessary.
parsy, the practical

The author, Hugh Hewitt, is a lawyer and a law professor.
Then he’s for sure a liar because if he is a lawyer, he knows better. You can simply look at the numbers on the charts on the link. Less than 1/2 of one percent of total health care expenditures. This is a legally insignificant issue. No one who writes these articles is so dumb as to do no research. Read a Law Review article somewhere on line. Nearly every sentence is footnoted.
These numbers are real, and not that hard to find.
parsy, who says read the article, do the math, and decide for yourself.

Dear Governor Perry,
On March 30, 2009 the Texas House of Representatives passed HCR 50 affirming that the State of Texas claims sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment.
You have publicly supported this bill, and stated that attorney generals from all over the union could be getting ready to sue the US Government.
We are asking you to take the lead.
We are asking you to order the Texas Attorney General to publicly begin working on a law suit under Article IV, Ninth, and Tenth Amendment of the Constitution.
We are asking you to protect the citizens of Texas that we will not stand for government controlled healthcare in our state.
Under your leadership we can effectively kill the proposal of this administration and allow Texas to be a state free from socialism and collectivism.
Be the voice of reason in the national debate and allow Texans the ability to solve the problems of our state.
Thank you,

Facts about the 10th Amendment:
The Tenth Amendment (Amendment X) of the United States Constitution, which is part of the Bill of Rights, was ratified on December 15, 1791. The Tenth Amendment restates the Constitutions principle of Federalism by providing that powers not granted to the national government nor prohibited to the states are reserved to the states or the people.
HCR 50 HAS PASSED THE HOUSE 99-36!
Affirming that the State of Texas claims sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the U.S. Constitution, serving notice to the federal government to cease and desist certain mandates, and providing that certain federal legislation be prohibited or repealed.
Take Action! Before it is too late!
