Jake Tapper, reporting on Twitter a few hours ago:
A source close to Jones re: 2002 doc: Jones didnt participate in and wasnt part of this march at all..."
..."He spent a very brief time on the board of the magazine War Times. Says no other connections to Truther movement other than petition.
about 3 hours ago from web
Tapper is referencing the Rense.com document from January 2002.
Gateway Pundit broke the news about Rense.com this morning with a report that posited that Jones was an organizer of the 9/11 Truther march listed on the page.
This writer took an alternate view that Jones was organizing an effort to undermine the war on al Qaeda with a leftist propaganda newspaper that was mentioned further down the page in a separate article.
Tapper expanded on his Twitter entries with an update at ABC News:
On Friday a 2002 document emerged in which Jones was on the "organizing committee" of a newspaper called WAR TIMES -- "A New, Biweekly, Tabloid Newspaper Opposing the 'War on Terrorism.'"
The WAR TIMES document asserts that the "world's most powerful nation has mercilessly bombed Afghanistan and is installing a neo-colonial government of its own choosing, although that country has never attacked the U.S. Millions of Afghans have been displaced and face starvation this winter. The administration has also green-lighted massive Israeli assaults on Palestine, and it threatens to attack Iraq, Lebanon, Somalia, and other countries. The agenda seems clear: to remake the world in the rightwing image with little regard for human consequences."
WAR TIMES's announcement appeared with the announcement of a protest march demanding a congressional inquiry into whether and how much the Bush administration may have played a role in the September 11, 2001 attacks.
But a source close to Jones said that Jones didnt participate in and wasnt part of this march at all. He spent a very brief time on the board of the magazine War Times. The source says no other connections to the Truther movement other than the petition exist.
In journalism, 'a source close to' is usually the person being referenced. After his weak apologies and explanations yesterday, the White House has put a muzzle on Jones.
Tapper still hasn't gotten around to Jones being a Mumia supporting cop hater.
I've sent Shanklin and Rush my stuff before, just as good, but I don't think they use outside submissions.
Excellent post!
And that’s exactly why we cannot allow the WHOLE issue to become JUST about Van Jones! We need as many freepers as possible doing research on the rest of the czars. Expose them all....Obama chose them BECAUSE of who they are!
Bookmarked.
This guy is ‘the gift that keeps on giving’, isn’t he? ;-)
This little communist puke needs to be GONE!!!!!!!

So do the REST of these stinkin’ ‘CZARS’.

I love how he claims that he signed the petition without reading it. So, we are supposed to believe that an Ivy-league educated lawyer signs documents without reading them. And this guy is supposed to “create grren jobs.” There is a carnival in need of a barker.
Absolutely brilliant satirical songwriting!
I was hooked from the first line, which scans beautifully:
“Sometimes its hard to be Obama....”
I could just hear it being sung.
I nominate Martina McBride/
At breakfast there will be a crawler on CNN:
"......Controversial White House advisor Van Jones has stepped down for family reasons.........It is 72 days since Michael Jackson passed away.........Splash the dog peed on the carpet last night......There were three distinct spots in the Blue Room...
And that's all you will hear from them.
An America hater working for an Ameria hater.
You’re right. Now Valerie Jarrett needs to be exposed.
