Our Social Security Franklin Delano. Roosevelt (Terms of Office March 4, 1933, to April 12, 1945), a Democrat, introduced Social Security (FICA) Program. He Promised:
1. That participation in the Program would be Completely voluntary, 2. That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual Incomes into the Program, 3. That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year, 4. That the money the participants put into the Independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the General operating fund, and therefore, would Only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and 5. That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.
Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to 'Put Away' -- you may be interested in the following:
1958 is the first year that Congress, not President Eisenhower, voted to remove funds from Social Security and put it into the General Fund for Congress to spend. It was a democratically controlled Congress. From what I understand, Congress' logic at that time was that there was so much money in Social Security Fund that it would never run out / be used up for the purpose it was intended / set aside for.
Question: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax Deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding? Answer: The Democratic Party.
Question: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities? Answer: The Democratic Party, with Albert Arnold Gore, Jr. (Al Gore) [Vice President Term of Office: January 10, 1993 to January 20, 2001] casting the 'tie-breaking' deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the US ....
Question: Which Political Party decided to start giving Annuity payments to immigrants?
Answer: That's right! James Earl Carter, Jr. (Jimmy Carter) (Democrat, term of office: January 20, 1977 - January 20, 1981 and the Democratic Party. Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive social security payments. The Democratic party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it!
Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!
I'm sure this is old news for some of you, but for some of us newcomers to the political world - this news is quite telling. We should never have a full democratic hold on any of our government branches. This is where we are today! Very frightening....
The idea of SS was actually started by a 3rd party candidate in the debates. He was a member of the Communist party.
FDR then took the idea to what he lied about and what it has become.
3rd parties do make a difference.
Never hurts to tell the facts.
Now "voluntary" means the IRS takes money from you and gives it back if you enroll your child in SS. Don't sign your kid up? You're out $20,000, and the kid will still have to sign up to get a normal job.
Glad I’m not the only one that didn’t know about this. Thanks for the added information that a 3rd party (communist party at that) started this.
Imagine that!
This government can not handle health care and it better not take this on! They have no business to be in business and that is what they are trying to attempt in every aspect of our lives. Taking control of our business. Sounds like a broken record huh! I guess I’m frustrated....
I remember being 16 or so & applying for my SS card...and feeling like I was a big shot grown up, with an ID card of my very own. Oh boy, oh boy. Little did I know...
Heres an old thread on an even older booklet: The Revolution Was, written in 1938 about FDR and the New Deal. It is ALL happening again.

EXCERT:
Then from the point of view of scientific revolutionary technic what would the problems be? They set themselves down in sequence as follows:
The first, naturally, would be to capture the seat of government.
The second would be to seize economic power.
The third would be to mobilize by propaganda the forces of hatred.
The fourth would he to reconcile and then attach to the revolution the two great classes whose adherence is indispensable but whose interests are economically antagonistic, namely, the industrial wage earners and the farmers, called in Europe workers and peasants.
The fifth would be what to do with business whether to liquidate or shackle it......
IT CONTINUES for several more points, and then spends several pages describing each. And is ALL very relevent today.
Wow.
I suppose the democrat and republican parties bear no responsibility whatsoever.
geez.
O-no, the rep and dem took a bad idea and used years to make it worse - then Carter un-locking the “lock-box” and putting it into the general fund was the worst of the worst.
My point was it was not an original FDR idea. It came from the communist party - implemented here. Almost like every idea out of the DNC today.
Well, FDR had many communist advisors, and probably leaned that way himself, so it's hardly surprising that he'd glom on to some of their ideas.
I checked out the Social Security claims made below at some non partisan fact checking organizations and it seems the information provided by jcsjcm is incorrect. Here are a few sites you can check out that are - as far as I can see - reputable fact checking organizations that have debunked the Social Security Information shown in jcsjcm’s post.

http://www.factcheck.org/2009/03/social-security-for-illegal-immigrants/
You can also go to the actual Social Security website http://www.ssa.gov/history/InternetMyths2.html
as it also disproves the claims made by jcsjcm - and it gives multiple links to the actual Social Security documents & legal decisions that are called into question by jcsjcm.
I would suggest that the next time jcsjcm posts information like this that he/she offer corroborating evidence of the statements being made. None of us want to be spreading false information...
