"THERE were angry clashes in a city centre today as right-wing protesters fought with anti-fascist campaigners"

Why would they be fighting with themselves?

maybe the "journalist" (what a joke that is) meant that they were fighting with Obama's hired fascist union goons.

I don’t know if the right group are racist or not. I do know white men are fed up with political correctness where they are beneath Muslims and foreigners. A lot of leftist harassment and abuse of Brits going on over there! Also, the British government is now serving as a full blown big brother - a leftist’s wet dream.

The “anti-fascist” mob are communists and socialists enraged at Brits who are getting uppity.

right-wing protesters fought with anti-fascist campaigners Aren't those the same thing?

Not in the topography of British fringe politics, where they've been at opposite street-fighting extremes ever since the Mosleyite/Communist clashes of the 1930s. After the Second World War, there have been a series of reincarnations of extreme socialist/trotskyite groups (usually called the 'Anti-Nazi League' or similar) clashing with extreme Nationalistic/xenophobic/anti-Semitic etc groups (usually named with various permutations of 'National', 'Front', 'British', 'League', etc etc). These clashes long predate the advent of Muslims in any numbers. As far as British political lexicography is concerned, this has always been extreme right versus extreme left: and they would be so described right across the spectrum of mainstream political comment.

Trotsky and the rest were fascists. Their followers are fascists.

Islamofascists are just that. Fascists. They became militant after being inspired by the crushing fist of the Bolsheviks. Yes, their current methods and the boldness of trying to accomplish their ultimate goal of a Global Caliphate were inspired by Soviet-style fascism.

What unites them all is totalitarian authority over the people. Their “utopian” goal is global totalitarianism and an end to all “nations” in favor of the World State.

The weapon they use is lie and slander. They call their opponents (those who want to preserve national sovereignty and the culture of their nation) “fascists” and “xenophobe” and anti-Semite (WHAT A JOKE!! LOOK AT THE TOTALITARIANS OF THE 20th CENTURY AND YOU'LL FIND NO MORE VIOLENT AND MURDEROUS ANTI-SEMITES!!).

This is how they project observers away from what THEY are and condemn their opponents of their own traits, and thus hide their own cause and underlying motives.

The fight is as it has been since the days of Attic Greece: the right of the people to live their lives freely and independently vs. the brutal oppression of those collective forces that try to subject the people to the State.

Please keep in mind that I’m not disagreeing with you.

But one of the tactics of the Statists has been, since its early planning and execution, to create so many factions on the left that those who want to preserve their nation are confused by which group stands for what and who the real enemy is. We get so mired in the details of each little faction we become blind to the powers behind the curtain.

Orwell painted this picture perfectly in his Homage to Catalonia.

Have not heard of the ‘English Defense League’, wonder if it associated with the National Party. There appeared to be two types of protesters: immigrants and traditional leftists (sign from the Socialist Workers Party (Trotskyites).

Of course, that’s right. I remember Oswald Mosley and that whole crowd. But although the labels “left” and “right” have long been used, I’m not sure if they are really applicable. Both groups have always thought of themselves as the wave of the future. Both have totalitarian impulses.

Sometimes it is said that the Nazi sympathizers were elitists, because of the involvement of aristocratic fringe figures like Nancy Astor. But there, again, I think that doesn’t make allowance for the fact that some of those aristocratic Nazi supporters thought of themselves as “reformers.” We see plenty of such people in America today: rich, privileged, even old family, but essentially leftist.

In other words, sure, there have always been at least those two factions that have fought with each other, but you could say the same of the Communists and the Trotskyites. They fight each other because they are trying to occupy the same ground and each think that they would be the best people to seize the levers of power for the good of the people.
