Unemployment Skyrockets Again in August to 9.7%

Remember last month with an unexpected drop to 9.4% Obama claimed his stimulus plan had saved us from "catastrophe?" Ooops! Spoke too soon!

Here's the headline from August:

Obama: We Saved Economy From 'Catastrophe' It's The First Drop In Unemployment Since Last Year; Strong Sign Recession Is Ending CBS News Aug 7, 2009

President Barack Obama is welcoming an improved national employment report, saying his administration has "rescued our economy from catastrophe."

In an appearance on the White House Rose Garden, Obama applauded a Labor Department report earlier Friday saying that the jobless rate declined to 9.4 percent from 9.5 percent a month earlier. ... President Obama welcomed the news, saying the numbers indicate "the worst may be behind us" in a recession well into its second year.

"Today, we're pointed in the right direction," he said in remarks in the White House Rose Garden.

And where is Obama when the news broke that unemployment had hit a 26 year high at 9.7%? In seclusion at Camp David. The best the administration could do was send out Bumbling Joe Biden to try once again to insist that the stimulus which they promised would save millions of jobs and keep unemployment below 8% is working.

Doesn’t take into account the “still unemployed” that are no longer are eligible to receive unemployed insurance checks. Those off the grid.

OBAMAVILLE

Gett’n a head fake,
watchin’ msn’s take;
All of their pundits oozing foul oil.
Clean’n my six gun on my front porch swing.
Felling my blood—
It’s beginnin’ to boil.

Wasted away again in Obamaville,
Searchin’ for a job so I can earn my salt.
Some people claim that Bush is to blame,
But I know it’s Obama’s fault.

There’s no rhyme or reason,
They are all commitin’ treason
With nothing to show but a brand new tax or two.
But they are real beauties,
Despotic duties,
how they got passed I haven’t a clue.

Wasted away again in Obamaville,
Searchin’ for a job so I can earn my salt.
Some people claim that it’s Bush we should blame,
Now I think,— hell with them it’s Obama’s fault.

I blew out my flip flop,
Stepped on a pop top;
Cut my heel, but I just cruise on back home.
Because no medical care will the doctors render
They say there’s little service I can tender
And there’s no need for me to hang on.

Wasted away again in Obamaville
Searchin’ for a job so I can earn my salt.
Some people claim that Bush is to blame,
But I know, it’s my own damn fault.
Yes, and some people claim that Bush is to blame,
And I know because of my vote it’s my own damn fault.

Relax. The 0ne has until the end of 2010 to make good on his plan to “create” over four million jobs, which will do a lot of good after loosing ten million.

I’m afraid we may never truly recover.

Oh, it's worse that that.

Last weekend I took part in a very quiet Massachusetts Avenue dinner with a distinguished gentleman who predicted and warned me about all of this--nearly five years ago. He has sources of information that are apparently very reliable. I suggested to him that we weren't going to have a V-shaped or U-shaped or even W-shaped recovery, but an L-shaped nonrecovery. He said, (and I paraphrase, of course) "No, we aren't even going to have that much stability. We'll get used to this unemployment and misery, have some stability, then take another step down. Get used to things that way, continue on an even keel, then take another step down. And so forth."

Didn't he “update” that to just “saving” those jobs?

Much easier to claim success...

Peter Schiff (one of the few who predicted the financial mess we are in) says the ACTUAL unemployment rate, using the method used BEFORE demonRAT LBJ CHANGED the method to LOOK like he and his fellow scumbag dems were doing a better job than they actually were, is 16.8%!

Not as far from the Great Depression unemployment numbers as Obozo and his fellow scumbag Socialists are trying to have us THINK.

Duration of unemployment is going to be horrendous this time around. I really deeply feel sorry for those people who just can’t get a job and will be burning through savings, selling assets, begging for sustenance from family.

I’ve never been fired/laid off. I can’t imagine how it feels to have that floor pulled out from beneath you - the shock of it, the fear, lack of self-worth, the uncertainty. To go on for many months of this when you are earnestly trying to find work, must just eat a person up inside.

I hate looking for a job when I have none. When I have one, I have way more confidence. I can take it or leave it. I can be picky. Looking for a job without one is just pure desperation. I hate it. I am so grateful I’ve never been fired or laid off in 33 years of working. Very grateful.

Everything cycles. If we remain a moral, capitalist society, we will recover. We have the most creative and hard-working people on the planet.

If we become socialist, then of course we will never recover. Only capitalism can raise people’s lifestyle and position. Socialism brings everybody down to the same low level. The masses, I mean, not the elite leaders.

We also have to start buying the products we make, and make it profitable for companies to manufacture things here again.

8% is now full employment.

Depends on which party is in charge. Remember how 4.8% unemployment and 2.8% GDP growth was reported under Bush and a GOP Congress?
