Was going to say I’ve heard grumbling across the board, with blacks being some of the bitterest critics. Reality is setting in everywhere.

He’s caught between a rock and a hard place. I don’t think he’ll be able to pass anything of substance. He’s lost too much of the middle, and if he tries to appease the middle, his progressive (aka - communist) wing will bolt.

Hopefully he’ll pull (delay) the health bill, but then it’ll be crucial that we stop the cap & tax. That is a monstrosity that’s at least as bad if not worse. If we just manage to delay any major legislature into early next year when our reps start seriously thinking about the elections, then I think we’ll have stopped them for good.

Else, we have to do such a thorough housecleaning in November 2010 so as to repair the damage they did.

Here’s the reality. Pelosi and Reid must have sat down with Democratic strategists over the past two weeks. It’s a dismal position now...and only 14 months away from elections. They’ve got the hard-core democratic base locked onto this entire medical deal and the cap & trade tax. At best, this hard-core crowd represents forty-five percent of their base vote. The remaining mass of the vote...isn’t truely hard-core or they vote independent most of the time.

For Pelosi...you have to start worrying. For any changes you wanted to make...you have barely a year to get them through before an entire change takes place in the house, and the Republicans control it.

Pelosi has to also consider that Obama and his crew really don’t grasp the national trend and have planned a lousy program from day one on.

There is no escape at this point. The President won’t back down...the hard-core group are stuck on their agenda...and media isn’t delivering any knockout punches. Even the Olbermann character has developed into a third-rate delivery vehicle. He gets a quarter of the viewers that Fox gets.

It’s a lose-lose-lose scenario.
