SAN DIEGO — San Diego Chargers star outside linebacker Shawne Merriman was arrested Sunday and accused of choking and restraining his girlfriend, reality TV star Tila Tequila, as she tried to leave his suburban home.
Tequila, 27, signed a citizen's arrest warrant, charging Merriman with battery and false imprisonment, San Diego County Sheriff's Lt. Gary Steadman said.
Both are felonies.

Sounds like Tila Tequila (ROTFL what a name) ain’t exactly upper crust but Merriman hasn’t done much to burnish his reputation with his off-field antics. Choosing Miss Tequila as his girlfriend and then getting into this little incident at 3:45 AM won’t help much.
Looks like the Chargers see the handwriting on the wall and they want to wash their hands of Merriman as soon as possible. He’s clearly a talent on the football field, but just as clearly lacks the discipline to handle any degree of success.
Its the same thing the media does to the armed forces. Im reading a book called Stolen Valor, that deals with medai distortions on Viet Vets. The media talks about how x % of veterans are homeless or drug users, but doesnt report that the same % or even higher of the general population has the same issues.

At any rate, Merriman in particular is likely innocent from what I’ve heard. Ms. Tequila was unable to produce any actual injuries, which seems a bit strange given Merriman’s obvious strength.
The good news is that this will likely result in Merriman finding a more suitable girlfriend. ;-)

If you could post a comprehensive list of the 508 active NFL players with felony convictions I'd love to see that. In the meantime, while you're busy compiling that please try to remember that conservatives aren't interested in imposing their beliefs on others, that's a liberal gig.
