Joe Kennedy says he won’t run for senate (YES!!!)

Joseph P. Kennedy II said today he will not make a bid for the senate seat held by his late uncle Edward M. Kennedy, in a bombshell announcement expected to draw candidates-in-waiting out from the wings.

“Given all that my uncle accomplished, it was only natural to consider getting back involved in public office, and I appreciate all the calls of support and friendship that have poured in,” Kennedy said in a statement posted on the web site of Citizens Energy, of which he is the founder.

“My father called politics an honorable profession, and I have profound respect for those who choose to advance the causes of social and economic justice in elective office,” Kennedy said. “After much consideration, I have decided that the best way for me to contribute to those causes is by continuing my work at Citizens Energy Corporation.”

Please look up the word “irony” in the dictionary and get back to me.
++++++++++++++

Perhaps I missed the nuance you intended; however the serious take of what you wrote is what we hear from the propogandists, in any case. To de-personalize this for ya, why don’t I just say, I reject any such premise made generally about this Senate seat.

Scott Brown is the way to go... and he is a conservative as well.

Shilling should get his feet wet, help Scott in his campaign and learn about being a candidate, change to an "R", and then enter some race down the line. The deadline to have registered "R" was earlier in August, so Shilling would have to run as an Independent. This would be tantamount to giving the seat to Coakley, unless republicans left the slate blank - and that has its own problems.

yup but too late for Schill to get in as GOP candidate...independent?
gotta get signatures...

Joe K didn’t want to go to a job with a lesser salary. And imagine the embarassment if he ran and lost!

Ted Kennedy's name and the phrase honorable profession should not be in the same sentence.

How about 'Ted Kennedy' and the phrase 'world's oldest profession'?

That works.

Schilling is an independent, but conservative per his blog:

I dunno. Where'd he get his height from, then? Ari was stocky & squat. I think he most favors his grandpa Bouvier, Jackie's dad. You mentioned JFK jr's dark coloring; his grandfather got his name "Black Jack" from his swarthy looks. Here he is in the middle with a couple of the only pics I could find of JFK jr at that angle:

Not to bust yer ba!!$, but if you are a MA resident, it's going to fall on people like you to be the first responders in this revolution to take back Congress from the socialist invasion.

This will be an important skirmish before the all-out battle that is coming for the 2010 Congressional war.

GOOD LUCK!

Butch Coakley would have an easier time defeating Schilling than Kennedy would. Kennedy is an empty suit.

Brown is as much a RINO as Romney. I think we’d stand a better chance with Kurt.

Either he has skeletons in his closet, he's making tons of money as a lobbyist and doesn't want the hassle of BS politics, or there's some deep dark secret yet to be uncovered.

No matter what, Kennedy's always have a reason (or ulterior motive) for everything they do.

Well Frantzie, I guess I’ll toss out my ‘Kennedy’ story (and yeah, I’ve got one, not much but an amusing little curiosity)...

Many MANY years ago (in the 70’s) I worked at a Navy contractor an outfit in Aspen Hill Maryland called ‘Vitro Laboratories’, at one time they were a damn large company, employed a LOT of retired Navy officers (and other retired military), they had their fingers in a lot of contractor business, and did (IMHO) some good work for the Navy, mostly in the consulting, information management areas, etc.

Anyhow, Vitro ran a shuttle service composed of a number of full size vans, station wagons, sedans, etc., between their buildings in Aspen Hill and Gaithersburg Maryland, and Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEASYSCOM), NAVELEX, NAVAIR, etc.

Moving right along now that I’ve set the stage, I remember one of the drivers that I struck up an acquaintence with and he said that he used to drive FOR the Kennedy family (specifically Teddy) in Washington, and he told me that I shouldn’t believe ANY of the many stories floating around about the boozing, womanizing, hell-raising, etc., because the truth was at least 1000 times worse than what got out to the public.

Now I could easily dismiss what he said as pure BS, but his refusal to go into details (and I was trying to find out more) told me that he was either a very crafty liar, or he had a sense of loyalty to the Kennedys.

In any event, there you go, it made our trips to and from Crystal City Virginia more interesting anyway! lol

Tammy Bruce thinks it might be because we’re finally taking a stand and raising holy hell when we see things that are wrong. Maybe he’s “afwaid” of us ol’ meanies ‘cause we’re not taking it any more.

I’m always getting confused on Kennedy’s and their addictions. Joe Kennedy was the heroin addicted Kennedy right?
