2 out of 5 are jobless in California
Associated Press ^ | September 06, 2009

two of five working-age Californians do not have a job, underscoring the challenges in one of the toughest job markets in decades.

"The recession has been so severe that California now has approximately the same number of jobs as it did nine years ago, when the state was home to 3.3 million fewer working-age individuals,"

Jean Ross, executive director of the California Budget Project, recommended Congress adopt a second extension of unemployment insurance benefits.

Ross also urged California lawmakers not to make deeper budget cuts that could exacerbate the recession. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's administration has projected the state will face a $7 billion to $8 billion deficit for the 2010-11 budget, but analysts have projected that it could be double that amount.

Asked to explain the difference between her unemployment figure and the government's, Ross said the government's official jobless rate does not factor in working-age Californians who stay out of the work force by choice, such as stay-at-home parents, or those who have simply given up searching for work.

Taking those people into account, she said, translates to a 57.5 percent employment rate for the state...

Not enough environmental regulations, obviously.

So according to the ObamaComs, Bari has “saved” 3 out of 5 jobs. Weird.

We need to copy California on the Federal level. The “progressive” method seems to work miracles.

Yeah, spend money you don't have instead.

How do they count the over three million additional illegals, from all over the world.

That's got to be one of the stupidest things I've ever read.

Yikes....a 42.5% unemployment rate does get one’s attention. Where are all those jobs BO’s Porkulus Bill “saved and created”?
Paging V.P. Biden....aren’t you in charge of creating jobs for this administration? They need you in CA ASAP.

Last time I checked, California had a Pubbie governor.

Last conservative Governor was Pete Wilson and even that is debatable.

"Pubbie" is just a feel good label.

California refuses to cut one program for illegal aliens...check this out:

See document post #10

Wonder why California is broke??? Senior Illegal aliens!

Yes, there are plenty of reasons, and here is just one! California gives over and above what the feds give to Illegal Aliens. Yesterday I was at my doctor’s office and picked up a booklet funded ‘with a generous grant from the Calif. Bar Foundation’, titled, “Seniors & the Law” A Guide for Maturing Californians. They pointed out many programs, such as property tax deferment for seniors in financial trouble, that have been eliminated because of budget cuts...but they didn’t cut this one!

Pg. 3 (click link to see original document) Is there any financial assistance available for seniors who are immigrants?

Yes!

Highlights: “California’s cash Assistance Program is for Seniors.... turned down because of their immigration status....such seniors may be able to get almost the same amount of cash as they would have through SSI”

Typical statist thinking. When those unemployment benefits run out, then what?

- Get rid of the illegals
- Get rid of the envirowacko laws
- Get rid of 80% of state gov't
- Cut taxes

they need to raise taxes so the government can "grow" the economy.

It's such a shame that an area like San Diego is in California. Lots of beauty in the state with such pathetic political leaders and sheep voters.
